Jenny Sanford leaves her Sullivan’s Island home carrying her mail, Dec. 11, 2009 (Wade Spees/The Post and Courier)
IT’S TIME FOR SC TO MOVE ON
Jenny Sanford is everywhere. No matter where you turn, it seems like South Carolina’s first lady is there.
The woman whose disgraced husband, Gov. Mark Sanford, abandoned her, her family and his state for nearly a week to be with his mistress in Argentina has recently been all over the headlines.
This past week alone, reporters across the country have been eagerly dissecting every tidbit of her forthcoming manifesto on the life of a scorned wife, “Staying True.” In the days leading up to the book’s Friday release, there has barely been a 30-minute window without an entire story devoted to excerpts from the tell-all tale.
And on Monday, Mrs. Sanford will take to CNN’s “Larry King Live” to promote the book.
But at some point, the madness has got to stop. Not because of any particular contempt for Mrs. Sanford (it’s hard not to feel compassion for what she’s been through), but because it’s time for South Carolina to move forward.
If Mrs. Sanford wants to become a part of the state’s future by using her name to bring about positive change, then I think that’s great. But sitting around and dwelling on the past gets us nowhere.
As long as we are continually reminded of this unfortunate page in South Carolina’s history, it is impossible to tackle the problems of South Carolina’s present.
This is not an unselfish request… I’ll be the first to admit I am sick and tired of writing about this story.
Unfortunately, though, the rest of the journalistic world is still clamoring for more. And until that appetite is satiated, we are going to be stuck in June 2009.

AMEN.
Can anyone say “EXPLOITATION”?
I’d say this state can’t move on until Sanford is no longer Governor. The fact that he is still Governor makes this a little weird, but that is his fault, not Jenny’s, and not the news media.
Now who are the other women with whom our LUVGUV has “crossed the line”? We know there are more in SC who have “hiked the Appalation Trail” with our LUVGUV. Somebody spill the beans…..We need to know who is in the upper echelons of our government who made it there by “hiking with the Guv”. Then we can move forward….
At least Tiger Woods didn’t have to take an oath of office to play golf. Govenor didn’t you once think about your family and your state before you “crossed the line” all those times. Obviouly not! Are we in SC cursed because our choice is Bauer if Sanford got the boot. Wake up SC it is time to look for integriety when we cast our next votes!!!
can anyone invision a time when the real Sanfraud truth will be told????????
As long as the Sanfrauds are in our state we will not move forward.
Seems a little suspect the timing of her separation and then a big book tour. Face it, no one outside of SC would have given a hoot what Mrs. Sanford had to say in a book if it weren’t for the “Appalachian Trail” incident. Still, an unfortunate situation..hopefully since she’s got enough cash, she’ll donate much of the book proceeds to some worthy charities…or if anything else, the state budget.
when i get sick of writing or reading about something I usually stop writing or reading about it. So if you are so sick about the whole sanford thing, why don’t you quit writing about it.
And until that appetite is satiated, we are going to be stuck in June 2009.* Adam
Boy are you F##K up you neo-con Republican Retarded freak? South Carolina Republican politics is still stuck in the 1860’s!!!!!!!!!!!
