FMR. OFFICE ON AGING DIRECTOR MAY CHALLENGE CHELLIS

South Carolina State Treasurer Converse Chellis may have a serious battle on his hands in his bid for reelection.

According to the FITSNews blog, former South Carolina Office on Aging Director Curtis Loftis is considering running for the statewide post.

Loftis, who left the Office on Aging in 2008, is the founder and chairman of the Saluda Charitable Foundation, a faith-based humanitarian group that provides food, shelter and clothing to seniors and orphans across the world. He has also owned and operated his own small business for the past 28 years.

The contrast would provide for an interesting Republican Party primary matchup with Chellis, who has never faced a real political challenge. For years, Chellis sailed uncontested to re-election as a State House member and was appointed by the same body to replace disgraced former Treasurer Thomas Ravenel.

As of last month, Chellis had $500,000 on hand in his campaign account, but $200,000 of that was a loan aimed to scare off would-be opponents.

    I think Chellis has a $300,000 loan, not $200,000.

Curtis will do a great job, He is a reformer, and has a dislike for fraud, waste and abuse that is from his DNA level. He used to say he could smell it from a mile away. I came to think he could!

You have got to be kidding! Check how many times he has lost jobs due to his behavior. Check how many times he goes after people that stand up to his angry outbursts. This suggestion scares me.

Scooter…please call Andre Bauer or Richard Eckstom for a reference on Curtis. It will clear up your constant, viscous postings.

Your fanatical hatred says more about you that the object of your scorn. You are really a vile little man.

I DO know why he no longer is in those jobs, Fred. Perhaps you do not. I do not hate Curtis, I just know the truth.

Hi Scooter…do you need Andre’s phone number? Eckstrom’s?

Why shoot your mouth off like an imbecile, when you can call them.

Let me know if you need the number.

scooter it’s very obvious you have an axe to grind. sometimes people who go up against power structures can many times upset those at the trough! My advice, you need a job with something to do, something positive and productive.
