COLLECTION OF MESSAGE FROM SC OFFICIALS
All across South Carolina, elected officials and politicos are sending out their Christmas well-wishes to friends and supporters.
Here are just a few excerpts of the Christmas messages that have landed in The Palmetto Scoop’s email inbox:
“I’d encourage everyone to take this Christmas spirit and carry it into the New Year. Giving to others, showing the love that marks this season, and reordering one’s focus to the things that really matter aren’t things best bottled up between Christmas seasons. With all that in mind, Jenny and the boys join me in wishing you and yours a joyous Christmas season, and blessings in the year to come.” — Gov. Mark Sanford
“It is at times like this that the story of Christmas brings us special comfort and hope in our hearts. Christmas reminds us that we can trust in God’s promise of peace on Earth and goodwill toward men. And on that wonderful night many years ago, an angel of the Lord brought us good tidings of great joy: God had sent the world a Savior who would be with us always.” — Sen. Jim DeMint
“Christmas is very important to my family. We have a wonderful dinner, exchange presents and reflect upon the many blessings we have been given, including the wonderful country where we are so fortunate to live. It is also a somber time as we remember our brave men and women serving overseas who are not able to spend the holidays at home.” — Congressman Joe Wilson
“While as a Party we celebrate diversity and are respectful of all traditions associated with this time of the year, the observance celebrated by my family and by most South Carolinians is the birth of Jesus Christ. Through a spirit of love and a commitment to action we can all play a part of making a better South Carolina and a better nation.” — State Republican Party Chairman Karen Floyd
“As we celebrate the birth of Christ, I think it’s important for us to recognize that the most valuable gift we can give is the time we invest in the people we care about and the vision that we continue to mold in the minds and hearts of young people.” — State Rep. Tim Scott
“Even though it’s easy to get caught up in the “hustle and bustle,” if we pause to reflect, it is easy to realize how much there is to be thankful for. Our country, our families, and the opportunities afforded to us are second to none.” — State Rep. Rex Rice
“From our family to you and yours, we would like to wish you a joyful holiday season!” — Columbia Mayoral candidate Steve Benjamin
