SENATOR’S HOME PAGE BRINGS UP ‘PROMOTIONS’
It looks like lieutenant governor candidate Bill Connor isn’t the only political candidate in South Carolina to find himself on the receiving end of an early Christmas present courtesy of internet hackers.
The state’s junior U.S. Senator, Jim DeMint, has apparently had his campaign website hacked.
The address www.JimDeMint.com now brings up a page that says “Promotions” and lists sweepstakes for things like a “Hot Air Balloon Ride For Two,” or a “featured role in the LindaSolarSun blog,” or a “watch worn by the President.” Here’s a screen cap:
Connor blamed terrorists for hacking his website. I wonder who DeMint will blame.
On the plus side, at least the website doesn’t link to a gay satire video, like it used to.
__________
UPDATE: I’m told the DeMint site wasn’t hacked, but the SNAFU is actually the result of bad coding. So I guess that means he’ll blame these guys.
__________
UPDATE 2: The website is back up. The guy who maintains the site, Wesley Donehue, said it crashed because of traffic. Not so sure about that.

Guess you didn’t see all these comments today – http://www.jimdemint.com/blog/2009/12/read-every-page/

This little smartalex blog is pitiful. Senator DeMint is one of the best things to come along for South Carolina and the United States in a long time. We should be thankful and proud that he represents us.
Hey mate, nice site Happy Holidays!
