WEBSITE CLIMBS TO NO. 2, HITS 350 MILLION USERS
The social networking website Facebook is now the second most visited website in the world, according to web information company Alexa.
Facebook recently knocked Yahoo out of the second spot and trails only behind Google, which has claimed the top spot since January.
Google and Yahoo have largely dominated the traffic race — holding down first and second place for at least the past four years.
According to Alexa, nearly 30 percent of global Internet users visit Facebook daily and the website receives just over 4 percent of all global pageviews.
Facebook’s move up the rankings came as the website’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, posted an open letter to users boasting that “more than 350 million people around the world are using Facebook to share their lives online.”
Zuckerberg said that the website would soon be undergoing another round of changes to accommodate the growing number of users.
