FATAL WRECK COMES 1 WEEK BEFORE POP STAR’S ‘GAME CHANGING’ SC SHOW
A tour bus for music star Miley Cyrus overturned in Virginia Friday, killing one person, a week before the 16-year-old pop singer is slated to perform in Columbia.
The bus was en route to a show in Greensboro, N.C., scheduled for Sunday. According to Virginia State Police, Cyrus was not aboard the bus.
The black-and-maroon luxury tour bus overturned around 8:15 a.m. about 40 miles south of Richmond.
Authorities did not release the name of the person killed or how the accident happened, although marks appear to show it skidded for several hundred feet before going into a ditch. Only one of the other nine passengers was injured in the wreck.
Cyrus is scheduled to play a concert at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia next Saturday. That show has been the subject of mild controversy after The Palmetto Scoop reported that it may have forced an unwelcome noon kickoff time for the rivalry football game between Clemson University and the University of South Carolina.
