SPILLER THROWS FOR TD IN TIGER ROUT

Clemson running back C.J. Spiller was a one-man wrecking crew Saturday as the Tigers rolled past ACC rival North Carolina State.

Spiller had three touchdowns in Clemson’s 43-23 win — one that he ran for, one that he caught, and even one that he threw.

“I’m just proud of C.J. — another ho-hum day for him,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said. “I don’t know how many other ‘first evers’ the guy can have.”

The Tiger victory put Clemson, 7-3, one step closer to locking up the ACC Atlantic Division title, which would be secured with a win over Virginia next week before heading to Columbia to take on arch-rival South Carolina.

Clemson opened the game against NC State with a 17-0 lead and never looked back. NC State came within 10 points midway through the third quarter but Clemson proved to be too much.

Tiger quarterback Kyle Parker was 12-for-18 for 183 yards with two touchdowns as Clemson scored at least 38 points for a school-record fifth consecutive game.

The win put Clemson in the Top 25 polls for the first time this year. The Tigers are No. 23 in the BCS standings but ranked 18th in the Associated Press poll and 19th in the USA Today poll.
