CURTIS LAVELLE VANCE SENTENCED IN SLAYING OF SC NATIVE

The man who killed Arkansas television anchorwoman and South Carolina native Anne Pressly will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

A Pulaski County, Arkansas jury Thursday sentenced 29-year-old Curtis Lavelle Vance (above) to life in prison without the possibility of parole for committing the grizzly October 2008 murder.

The jury had been weighing whether or not Vance should be executed.

“Tonight, they have come back with a sentence, a sentence that they believe, and we share with them, is the harshest possible sentence for this gentleman going forward, where he will now spend the rest of his natural life in a 6-by-9 cell with nothing to think about but what he has done,” said Pressly’s stepfather, Guy Cannady.

The same jury on Wednesday convicted Vance of capital murder, residential burglary, rape and theft of property.

Pressly, 26, was attacked in her Little Rock home and brutally beaten to death. She was born in Beaufort, was an anchor at KATV and had a small part in the President Bush biopic “W.”

He got off easy. I say an eye for an eye……torture, rape and brutalize him….then let him be executed in the most agonizingly painful way possible all while he begs for his life like his victim did……

What a waste of tax payer monies. In a different time not long ago it would have been concerned citizens; a tall pine a short rope and the end of the problem. His skin color has nothing to do with the punishment. What he did to Anne Pressley was to committ a horrible act and to think he will ever show remorse is to believe in Santa Claus, the tooth fairy and easter bunny.

Arkansas would be well served to take a lesson from Texas and put in a express lane for death penalty cases, this is a prime example of final justice being delayed…
