ATTORNEY GENERAL LAUNCHES WEB VIDEO DEFENDING FREEDOM OF RELIGION

South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster has released another web video in his campaign to become the state’s next governor. And this time, on the heels of a controversial federal court ruling, McMaster is talking about freedom of religion.

“In Great Falls, we had a Wiccan witch, a Wiccan high priestess, who brought a lawsuit…the ACLU brought a lawsuit for her because they were opening the meeting at Great Falls – the Town Council – with a prayer, which typically included Jesus, a prayer to Jesus. And they said that was unconstitutional,” McMaster says in the video.

“So, we got involved in the case. And we told them that we would fight for them,” says McMaster. “As I have said, under the Constitution, you are allowed to pray the way you want to pray. If you want to pray to Jesus, which of course many people do, then that’s the way that you ought to be allowed to pray.”

McMaster’s video was released just two days after U.S. District Judge Cameron Currie ruled that South Carolina’s “I Believe” license tag was Unconstitutional. Currie said the amendment enshrines a separation of church and state and that the tag violates that right.

McMaster made an offer to any South Carolinian on the receiving end on an ACLU lawsuit: “call me up. We’ll defend you. We’ll help you.”

Why?

“Because one day, I believe the U.S. Supreme Court will recognize that they’ve gone off the deep end with their rulings against prayer,” McMaster says. “And they will come back to realize that the Constitution of the State and the Constitution of the United States provides that people have a freedom of religion. And that means they can pray wherever they want to – however they want to – including, of course, to Jesus as they did in Great Falls.”

Mr. Bauer said he would pay the cost of the tags…out of his own pocket, if the sales were not high enough.

Now the state has to pay legal fees for BOTH sides of the battle, and for the development, and canceling of the tag.

Where is Mr. Bauer’s wallet now? No where to be found.

It was always about throwing red meat to the right wing.

I guess there is a reason this pandering fool disables comments on his laughable videos.

I know we’re in SC, but how about “on the heels,” rather than “heals…”

“On the heals (sic) of a controversial…..”
    Proof reader where art thou?
Tell him he can pray anytime and anywhere he wants; just keep it to himself. We don’t want to hear his prayer or have to.

I suppose that on his next video McCMaster will drop his pants and allow us to see Fogle’s lip marks on his ass.

Once again the right wing kiss butt politicos of SC have to try and embarrass the entire state with their drivel. They are more than willing to let the people of this state pay the price tag for litigation just so long as they can be seen to support one religious agenda. Shut up and quit wasting our time and money!

When a person makes a big point of showing how religious he is, I immediately wonder why the big show? Religious people don’t make a big show of their religion, they just use it in a their life. Sort of reminds me of why I don’t be from used car dealers who tell me how honest they are.

Notice that with all the prayers we have in government have never affected the level of corruption one bit, including in Great Falls.
