MAN SUSPECTED IN 11 MURDERS SERVED AT PARRIS ISLAND
The man who police say raped and murdered at least 11 women and buried their remains at his home near Cleveland, Ohio has South Carolina ties. And investigators are looking into whether he may have any victims in the Palmetto State.
Anthony Sowell, a 50-year-old registered sex offender, was arrested on Oct. 31 after police found six badly decomposed bodies on his property. Officials have since found another five victims and are continuing to look for more.
Part of that search has led investigators to South Carolina, where Sowell was stationed from 1978 to 1985 while in the U.S. Marine Corps.
According to the FBI, Sowell served at various times at Parris Island and they are looking into any unsolved murders during that time in the area.
