TIGERS WIN 4TH STRAIGHT WITH SPILLER’S CAREER-BEST PERFORMANCE

There is officially hope once again in Clemson. The Tigers rolled past ACC rival Florida State Saturday, 40-24.

The Tigers were led by running back C.J. Spiller’s career-high 165 yards rushing, including a 5-yard touchdown run and three receptions. That touchdown came in the fourth quarter, capping off Clemson’s fourth straight win.

The 16 point victory, however, does not reflect how close the score was for much of the game.

Florida State jumped out to a 17-6 lead in the first quarter before a Clemson touchdown and two-point conversion made it a three-point game at halftime.

The two teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter but Clemson scored 19 unanswered in the fourth for the win.

Clemson quarterback Kyle Parker was 18-for-30 with 242 yards passing, four touchdowns and one interception.

The Tigers improved to 6-3 on the season and could win the ACC Atlantic Division with wins over North Carolina State and Virginia in the next two weeks.

The four consecutive wins mark a major turnaround for Clemson, which appeared to be heading for a nightmare season after a 2-3 start that included losses to Maryland — considered the worst team in college football — Georgia Tech and Texas Christian University.
