NEW VIDEO SHOWS STATE SCHOOL SUPER STILL A STATUS QUO WARRIOR

The man who has expedited the demise of South Carolina’s entire public school system, State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex, is running for governor.

And, on Monday, Rex released a new campaign video that takes about the same approach as the State Department of Education under his watch: Look the other way, then blame everyone else for your problems.

In the video, Rex says he’s “sick and tired of the negative image that’s been portrayed of our state and of our people.”

Of course, Rex isn’t talking about South Carolina’s worst in the nation dropout rate or the fact that we pay more than $12,000 per student, which tops most states by a lot.

Nope, Rex is referring to the stupid things done by a select few Republicans like Gov. Mark Sanford having an extramarital affair and two incidents in which GOP activists made racist statements.

While Rex blasts those things — as he rightfully should — he says everything on the education front is just fine and dandy.

“It’s time to look at the many attributes we have in this wonderful state. Our natural environment, a business climate that’s attractive to people, a public school system that’s on the move forward being progressive,” Rex says as an insultingly ironic graphic rolls over that reads “innovate public schools.”

Umm… a public school system on the move forward? About that…

Either this guy is in complete denial about how absolutely disastrous his administration has been, or he has a plan to buy votes with state taxpayer-funded pampering the likes of which only his top educrats have experienced.

Mr. Fogle: Before you “report” that SC has the “worst dropout rate in the nation”, why not do some research and report how dropout rates are calculated by SC and other states? Then report the facts that result. Your “reporting” will then be more valuable because you’ll be reporting facts rather than your opinion.
