FMR. FINANCE DIRECTOR PLEADS GUILTY, FACES 30 YEARS IN PRISON
The former finance director of South Carolina’s Department of Social Services Tuesday plead guilty to stealing more than $5 million from the agency.
A plea agreement filed Monday shows Paul Moore is pleading guilty to mail fraud and theft of government funds.
Authorities say Moore and another man recruited dozens to cash checks Moore had made out to them from agency accounts. They gave most of the money back to Moore, who has admitted spending much of it on gambling and strippers.
Moore’s attorney has said his client disagreed with prosecutors over how much agency money he took. But the agreement shows Moore agrees to repay the $5.2 million he bilked from the department.

The problem with embezzlers is that they always get too greedy. Seriously… $5.2 million? Like no one is going to notice when that disappears.
But the guy couldn’t just take a few thousand and be happy with that. And, so now he’ll get a few decades in prison to enjoy the whole lot of nothing he ended up with.
