LAUREN CAITLIN UPTON CUTS COMMERCIAL FOR PISTACHIO COMPANY

It has been more than two years since then-Miss Teen South Carolina Lauren Caitlin Upton had her 15-plus minutes of infamy with a beauty pageant meltdown that was seen by of millions of people.

But the Lexington native still pops up every now and again.

Like in May when WIS found her at a dog shelter preparing to move to Los Angeles.

Or like the other night when I saw a commercial for “Wonderful Pistachios” on television.

“I personally believe that cracking shells will help Americans who don’t have maps to build a better future,” Upton says on the ad promoting the “lowest fat nut” while paying homage to the jumbled words that created her celebrity.

“Beauty queens do it without a clue,” an announcer responds. Ain’t that the truth?
