FLORENCE COUNTY COUNCILMAN RAISES NEARLY $330,000 DURING QUARTER
Florence County Councilman Ken Ard holds a financial lead over two other Republican hopefuls in the race to become the next lieutenant governor.
On Thursday, Ard reported raising $329,125 during the third quarter and said he had $324,874 on hand.
Those totals put Ard well ahead of his primary opponents South Carolina Rep. Tim Scott and Orangeburg Attorney Bill Connor.
Scott showed $157,653 in the bank while Connor had $38,715 remaining in his campaign account.
A spokesman for Ard’s campaign said Florence County Councilman has traveled to more than 100 different Republican events across the state. And his disclosure showed it.
The majority of the $106,599 Ard spent during the quarter went to travel and event expenditures.
But don’t count Scott out of it yet. The Charleston Republican raised a staggering $150,000 during a 10 day period in August.
State Rep. Ted Pitts, who was in the race, dropped out after learning he would be deployed to Afghanistan in January. No Democrats have filed for the position.

That’s my county councilman… soon he will be the Republican nominee for Lt. Gov.
He’s a hard worker just like his dad.
Notice that Ken Ard has filed his ethics report late. He has been fined $100 by the ethics commission. The report was filed on 10/16 it was due on 10/15. If he can keep a simple deadline like this what else will he do.
You didn’t say something good about Connor. Be careful or you will have Hector Gonzales saying you are on Ken Ard’s payroll and others telling you that you are bound for hell.
Two things seem fairly obvious.
Adam has not intention at all of telling the truth regarding the Ard campaign and Ard did not “Raise” $329,000 during the third quarter.
He says he loaned the campaign $200,000 as a smokescreen to try and give a different impression of how things really are and to cover up the fact we were lied to regarding the fundraiser the night of the gubernatorial debate.
Ard reported raising $127,000 that night through one of Adam’s posts. Actually they raised $32,500 that night.
The more you write this stuff Adam, the less those reading it will regard you as a credible blogger.
anyone over the age of 10 knows how to read an ethics report and that contributions for an event take more than one trip to the bank for deposit.Donors make their contributions WEEKS ahead of time. You should get out of your mama’s basement, put on some big boy pants, and get to know the true process of fundraising. Reality check dude – even with out a loan, Ard’s been the hand’s down leader in fundraising for this race.
SuperConservative, err, I mean author of palmstatepolitics, what do you know about “creditable bloggers”? Nothing says uncreditable like schilling for your homeboy Bill Connor on your new blog. Since I can read, I can also add up numbers from Ard’s report. Total raised (contributions plus in kind) was $129,125. Last time I checked, that number was greater than the $127K that Ard announced. HMMMM. Math- so simple a redneck like myself in Lancaster County can do it.

Ard raised so much money because he worked hard for it and is impressing folks wherever he goes. No one can deny that.
Over $300,000 in one quarter?!?! Wow, this guy must be doing something right…
Southern Belle, I agree that people must really be relating to Ard’s message. This fundraising quarter proves that.
Super, that’s a big difference between the amount he reported to have raised at that event, and the amount you say he really raised.
Mind telling us how you know this?
No problem Earl.

Look at the dates of the contributions.
Also, Ard only reports having raised $125,125 in individual contributions for the entire quarter. That isn’t even enough to cover the claim that they raised $127,000 in one night. Showing a $200,000 loan is nothing but a smokescreen to cover up the fact we were lied to.
It’s misleading and Adam is party to this.
There’s more info on Ard’s disclosure here http://palmstatepolitics.blogspot.com/
So Super, since you’re all about discloures, mind disclosing who you are? If that’s your blogsite, it looks like you’re a Connor supporter, whose people have been engaging in clandestine and shadowy attack games.
Sorry Earl not my site.
You could just say I’m an interested observer.
Why worry so much about me and not the facts of the disclosure by Ard?
We were lied to, yet you don’t want to talk about that. Why?
Super, as my question above said, if it’s not your website, then that question wasn’t directed at you.
As Ard’s disclosure, I think the facts have been presented and speak for themselves. But a lot of campaigns over the years have fundraisers which report both contributions made at the event, as well as those made by invitees who could not attend.
The thing that matters to me is that the money was disclosed, which it was. How they choose to present it really isn’t a big deal to me.
In this race, as well as others, I’m an entertained observer. Watching the way Connor’s supporters make mountains out of molehills, accomplishing little more than to piss off people like me who are still neutral, is the most amusing part of all.

I am so tired run of the mill “Politicians” (and I sure do use that term loosely since not everyone in this race has held office before) with their negative campaigning.
To me, there sure seem to be a lot of sour grapes from people who are straight out being outworked by candidates that are committed to raising money and winning the race.
Myra, everyone in that race is a candidate practicing the art of politcs, so the label “politician” would fit all of them.
While the candidates in that race are raising different sums of money, all three of them are working their tails off. I see them everywhere.
Earl – I don’t have much interest in either of the candidates but you seem to have a special hatred for Connor.
He too christian for you?
Typical of the Ard folks.
KD, Earl and Katie pumping their guy and trashing Connor.
KD, funny you should mention schilling for a candidate. You referring to what Adam does for Ard and McMaster?
We all are wise to the ways of Cahaly and Shealy. They’ve made quite a rep for themselves re negative campaigning.
Connor scares you guys because he’s not a typical politician and doesn’t owe anyone in the political machines any favors. Something neither of the other two candidates can say.
Earl was at a Scott event last week. Sure about that Jeff?
Jeff, Josh can you prove they work for Ardy?
