VIDEO SHOWS CRITICS HECKLING SC’S SENIOR SENATOR

The knuckledragger brigade was out in full force Monday night at a health care reform town hall held by U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham at Furman University in Greenville.

During the 75-minute forum, the boisterous crowd grilled Graham for having common sense and not blindly following the rhetoric of right wing reactionaries.

At one point, an older woman stood up and made some prolonged statement about state’s rights and the Constitution while the crowd predictably cheered her on. The woman ranted at length about “unconstitutional, anti-Christ, socialist, federal, deficit-spending programs” and told Graham that “God does not compromise.” Whatever that means.

Graham responded by asking her how she’d voted for president, and –shockingly — she said she voted for Constitution Party wacko Chuck Baldwin. Also shockingly, nearly all of the ideologues in attendance gave a rambunctious round of applause.

That glorious moment — captured in the video above — pretty much sums up why I can’t stand Furman.

Now, since the Federal Trade Commission requires full disclosure, I did attend Georgia Southern University, so I’m predisposed to thinking that Furman is the worst place ever. But when those type of people represent the best that school has to offer, it doesn’t.

I’m told the video was filmed by an Upstate activist named Brian Frank — the same individual that heckled Graham at the State Republican Party Convention in May. On the video, Frank can be heard shouting the same “hypocrite” insult that he lobbed at Graham during the convention.

Interestingly, on his Facebook page, Frank lists his activities as “Sitting on my butt and collecting unemployment as long as I can!” Gee… what a surprise.

Are you sure you are a Republican?

On another note, as a Furman grad, I’ll stand up for my school. It won’t be that hard to counter your comments: the people at the town hall held at Furman were actually not Furman students. Or professors. Or staff.

I wonder if your man McMaster agrees with your crude comments about people that disagree with Graham. They may not all be rocket scientists…but they are voters and are deserving of respect.

I am reconsidering my support for McMaster based on your comments.

McMaster and Graham are not gods in my book…and I CAN disagree with them if I choose. To watch Graham is to watch an arrogant man that KNOWS he is right. It is disgraceful

It means that God won’t get a transgender operation, no matter how many times Senator Graham hits on him!

You said, “when those type of people represent the best that school has to offer”

WHAT??? PUT DOWN THAT THAR CRACK PIPE FER JEST EH SEC… Just because the event was held at Furman University does not mean anything about it. You see, most of the people there had nothing to do with Furman…

…if that comment wasn’t bad enough all your bashing ideologues and defenders of the Constitution lead me to believe that you may have suffered some severe head trauma while at Georgia Southern.

Lindsey Graham is a Democrat with an “R.” He is a useless piece of filth just like his loverboy, John McCain. He cares nothing about what any of his constituents want or think: he’s interested in what gets him the most TV time – that’s it. RINO Graham is a posterchild for all that is wrong in American politics.

It was knuckledragging reactionaries who booed Graham, but it was totally reasonable people who booed Barrett.

    You mean this Georgia Southern:

Average High School GPA of Freshmen: 3.2

Percent of entering freshmen by Class Rank:
    Class Rank % of Freshmen
    Bottom 25% 7%
    Bottom 50% 23%

    SAT Scores
    SAT Math 510
    SAT Critical Reading 510

First, GA Southern does not even come close to matching up with Furman academically. It’s not even a contest.

Also, Graham is turning his back on any conservative principles he has left. I think he’s done next time around if the GOP can find a good candidate to run against him. I don’t understand why he’s so stuck on this “I’m a Republican and not anything else” idea. Who gives a damn what party a person belongs to if there are no principles behind that label?

Adam, you defend this New World Order shill. But you seemed to love the booing of Barret.

    Chuck Baldwin is a wacko?
Let me guess Ron Paul is too?

Your part of the fake left right paradigm. Wake up man! your being conned.

Why has Obama continued all of Bush’s policies. Why wont Republicans give Obama credit for having now more troops in Iraq and Afghanistan than Bush.

Its rough admitting your a part of a fake system of choise when their the same thing.

  11. 11.

Its so “shocking” and “wacko” that people applauded for a constitution party candidate and the constitution.

What a “schocking” radical thing that the people want to be represented not the banksters who are raping our country with the help of Washington

Its normal to give banks 23.7 trillion (bloomberg) do you think your a part of that system, your not special man. You will lose everything too.

    But

As a Furman student who was at the town hall meeting held on Furman’s campus that night I can attest to the absolute ridiculousness of some of the attendees. However, these people were not representatives of Furman– the meeting was open to anyone and everyone and attracted a wide variety of individuals from the Greenville/TR area. If you were there, you would have noticed a large group of students in the back and a group of Furman professors sitting in the front. I am proud to associate myself with the group of Furman students who attended, we sat there in awe of the situation as well and despite your ignorant assumptions are not a group of right wing nut jobs– true scholarly, open, and intelligent discussion occurs at Furman– and I am attesting to this being a strong liberal and supporter of the Democratic party myself.
