CONGRESSMAN SIDES WITH CLYBURN, DEMOCRATS BY NOT CASTING KEY VOTE
Congressional Republicans won their fight to remove federal funding from the scandal-ridden ACORN Thursday as the House voted to cut off the leftist “community organizing” group, despite the absence of one South Carolina representative.
The measure to stop sending taxpayer money to ACORN passed by a total of 345-75, with all opposing votes cast by Democrats.
South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn voted against the measure. Three Palmetto State Republicans, Reps. Joe Wilson, Bob Inglis and Henry Brown, and one Democrat, Rep. John Spratt, voted for the amendment.
But one Congressman, Gresham Barrett, seemingly sided with Clyburn and House Democrats when he did not record a vote.
Republicans didn’t need his vote, but it raised questions as to why Barrett, who is running for governor and trying to raise his conservative credentials, missed such a key vote for the second time this week.
The New Orleans-based ACORN has come under fire by conservatives over allegations of embezzlement, voter fraud and misconduct by employees.
Recent hidden camera videos revealed that workers for the group reportedly offered undercover filmmakers advice on tax evasion and underage sex trafficking. Those revelations led to the U.S. Census Bureau severing ties with ACORN.
The House measure passed the Senate on Monday 83-7.

“I’m Henry McMaster and I approved this message.”
Adam,
“Your Senator” Lindsey Graham missed Monday’s Senate vote to defund ACORN. Where is your post slamming him?
No surprise. Gresham Barrett is a RINO just like Light in the loafers Graham.
I wish there was a blog out there that wasn’t bought and paid for by campaigns. Here’s the thing; you’re not even close to telling the truth on this one.
Barrett did miss the vote, but the guy cosponsored the Defund ACORN Act. I’m pretty sure that isn’t siding with Clyburn/Spratt.
It wouldn’t have mattered if he’d voted anyway both Dem. and Rep. voted in favor of this measure. How about posting something worth posting Adam, and stop McMasterbating every chance you get…
Correction: Rep. John Spratt (D-SC) voted for this measure to deny funding to ACORN. See this link:

Gresham 2010! It’s so like the Scoop to side with the country club McMaster/McCain/Graham crowd who have destroyed the party in the past 2 elections and want to ‘moderate’. He did cosponsor to defund ACORN. I mean he’s against it. McMaster is the real RINO being McCain’s best friend and campaigning for the primaries which everyone remembers.
