I am both saddened and amazed by this incident. I lost my son several months ago so I know this mother's pain. I am the wife of a disabled VET so I know the sacrifice. Yes Al they do get paid just like any other job but it is one of the lowest paid jobs. Believe me when I say it's not an easy job. It takes a person with a great amount of dedication to put their lives on the line especially when they know there is someone like you ready to spit in their face. Why don't you stop for one minute and think where we all would be if every brave soul in the armed forces finally had enough of the garbage they hear on a daily basis and just quit.
I am originally from a small town in South Carolina. To call me ignorant for being outraged shows your ignorance. It is beyond absurd a bank that not only has the word America in it's title but also has an American flag as part of their logo would prohibit any and all American flags being flown. I don't think race has anything to do with this but the race card is played way to often. As for "what if that soldier had been Italian", whether he was of Italian decent or not he was "American" I am so sick of the term ( ) American. You are either American or not. As to the comments don't hold BOA accountable for 1 employee, why not? Especially when that 1 employee was following protocol! Forgive, forget and move on is a big part of the road we are screaming down at a dangerous rate of speed. 1 by 1 our rights are being stripped or strapped and it's being done by the few while the many sit silently by. If this continues you need not get offended by whether or not they fly the American flag. We are bending over backwards to cater to spanish language so we don't offend anyone. China is taking over quietly through businesses like WalMart. Check to see who made the majority of the products they carry. BOA isn't the only business that needs a wake up call.

Hey Al, 1/5/10. You sound like one of the scum that ran to Canada during Nam. There is more than "Pay" involved for most that are in the defense of this Country and your freedom. Here is somthing you might chew on for awhile before you go somewhere that you will have to defend your own shelfish butt.

The Sack Lunches

I put my carry-on in the luggage compartment and sat down in my assigned
seat. It was going to be a long flight. 'I'm glad I have a good book to
read. Perhaps I will get a short nap,' I thought. Just before take-off, a
line of soldiers came down the aisle and filled all the vacant seats,
totally surrounding me. I decided to start a conversation.

'Where are you headed?' I asked the soldier seated nearest to me.
'Petawawa' we'll be there for two weeks for special training, and then we're
being deployed to Afghanistan.

After flying for about an hour, an announcement was made that sack lunches
were available for five dollars. It would be several hours before we reached
the east, and I quickly decided a lunch would help pass the time...

As I reached for my wallet, I overheard a soldier ask his buddy if he
planned to buy lunch. 'No, that seems like a lot of money for just a sack
lunch. Probably wouldn't be worth five bucks. I'll wait till we get to
base.'

His friend agreed.

I looked around at the other soldiers. None were buying lunch I walked to
the back of the plane and handed the flight attendant a fifty dollar bill.
'Take a lunch to all those soldiers.' She grabbed my arm and squeezed
tightly. Her eyes wet with tears, she thanked me. 'My son was a soldier in
Iraq, it's almost like you are doing it for him.'

Picking up ten sacks, she headed up the aisle to where the soldiers were
seated.. She stopped at my seat and asked, 'Which do you like best - beef or
chicken?' 'Chicken,' I replied, wondering why she asked. She turned and went
to the front of plane, returning a minute later with a dinner plate from
first class.

'This is your thanks.'

After we finished eating, I went again to the back of the plane, heading for
the rest room. A man stopped me. 'I saw what you did. I want to be part of
it. Here, take this.' He handed me twenty-five dollars.

Soon after I returned to my seat, I saw the Flight Captain coming down the
aisle, looking at the aisle numbers as he walked, I hoped he was not looking
for me, but noticed he was looking at the numbers only on my side of the
plane. When he got to my row he stopped, smiled, held out his hand and said,
'I want to shake your hand.' Quickly unfastening my seat belt I stood and
took the Captain's hand. With a booming voice he said, 'I was a soldier and
I was a military pilot. Once, someone bought me a lunch. It was an act of
kindness I never forgot.' I was embarrassed when applause was heard from all
of the passengers.

Later I walked to the front of the plane so I could stretch my legs. A man
who was seated about six rows in front of me reached out his hand, wanting
to shake mine. He left another twenty-five dollars in my palm.

When we landed I gathered my belongings and started to deplane. Waiting just
inside the airplane door was a man who stopped me, put something in my shirt
pocket, turned, and walked away without saying a word. Another twenty-five
dollars!

Upon entering the terminal, I saw the soldiers gathering for their trip to
the base. I walked over to them and handed them seventy-five dollars. 'It
will take you some time to reach the base. It will be about time for a
sandwich. God Bless You.'

Ten young men left that flight feeling the love and respect of their fellow
travelers.

As I walked briskly to my car, I whispered a prayer for their safe return.
These soldiers were giving their all for our country. I could only give them
a couple of meals. It seemed so little.

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made
payable to 'The United States of America' for an amount of 'up to and
including their life.'

That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no
longer understand it.

May God give you the strength and courage to pass this along to everyone on
your email buddy list.

I JUST DID

Let us pray...

Prayer chain for our Military... Don't break it!

Please send this on after a short prayer.

Prayer:
'Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect
us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us
in our time of need.

Hey please dont tell me that you served in the military for me. You served by choice and you know the risk. The military is by choice as of today! You serving our country is good but dont tell me you did it for me. You did it because it gave you benefits. I'm using the word "benefit" loosely, benefits like your pride, ego, pay, medical, gi bill...so if you did it for me dont get paid or take the benefits...You are being paid for your services!!!

I believe the bank manager made a poor decision...but the banking industry is very regulated and has many policies.... I'm guessing she got a few complaints and the manager just tried to take them down so she didn't have to take any heat from customer...remember sometime we get complains over things we have no control over...so I kind of understand were she is coming from....but you alwasy want to get a second opinion before you take such a step in the community activities..

I have been following this since day one and enjoying to watch the fall of this "Fat Cat". Now I see where BofA is having a hard time filling the vacancy of their CEO. They should offer the job to Brandy Tate, she would fit right in.

I am a former BOA employee ( in another state) and I am not shocked by what BOA has done, it is the " policy of the bank" just like it is the policy of the bank to remove the christmas decorations, so not only will they display the flag they will not display a christmas tree " in fear of upsetting customers" I would like to know when did banking become so cold hearted ?

(My letter to BoA)

On September 22nd of this year, a BoA branch in South Carolina refused to place flags on the property for a fallen Marine. As a corpsman that works along side Marines on a day by day basis, I am extremely disappointed. You call your business Bank of AMERICA and use the American flag as a logo, icon and statement. You service Americans but yet, with this act, you show you do not support those that protect your ability to be an American and keep our lands safe.

When I heard this story, I could not believe I have an account with such a hateful, cold-hearted, inconsiderate, immature and ridiculous bank. With that said, I have opened the same type of account with my local bank and will be moving my BoA account to their services. They are a very strong supporter of the United States military and would never act with such disrespect.

Please do not attempt to justify these actions for there is not justification for not supporting those who serve when you use OUR flag as your icon.

With much disappointment,
