CALIFORNIA COMPANY COULD BE IN MORE LEGAL TROUBLE FOR FACILITATING PROSTITUTION
The online classified company Craigslist has once again found itself “in bed” with the wrong side of the law after police in Florida broke up a prostitution ring run using their adult entertainment services.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said deputies nabbed 28 prostitutes and four male pimps during a three-day operation in which authorities contacted women who had posted adult advertisements on Craigslist. And now the San Francisco-based company could face more legal trouble.
According to Tampa Tribune, detectives had e-mail and telephone contacts with the women and negotiated sex acts ranging from $125 to $800.
The prostitutes were mostly from Central and South Florida, but some flew in from as far away as Wisconsin and California.
Judd echoed what South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster has been saying for months, that Craigslist is at least partially culpable for facilitating prostitution.
“They provide the infrastructure for prostitutes to operate,” Judd said at a Monday afternoon news conference. “Craigslist is one-stop shopping for all of your prostitution needs.”
McMaster led law enforcement officials across the country in demanding that Craigslist remove advertisements for prostitution and graphic pornographic material from its website. Judd renewed that request under threat of criminal charges.
“They’ve been asked; they’ve been encouraged,” said Judd. “And now I’m promising them they will be charged criminally by our office and we will seek prosecution if they continue to violate the laws of the state of Florida. They may have perpetuated enough criminal conduct that they are a criminal defendant in waiting.”
Craigslist denied any wrongdoing saying that other sites in Florida offer worse adult advertising venues.
The company also faced criticism when a North Carolina man allegedly used the site to orchestrate an attack on his wife in May.

This is a great South Carolina political story!!! Thanks for the scoop!
Why are they going after just GRAIG’S LIST??? I guess they want to be paid off bt Craig’s List! There are much worse sites than Craig’s List such as EROS QUIDE, ESCORTS CHICAGO and LAT in NC which is ran by a MALE pimp. EROS is HUGE and Escorts Chicago is ran by a ruthless woman who has owned the service for yrs and takes HALF the girls money, fines them etc…The FACT is that the ESCORT SERVICES want Craig’s List gone, because they think the men will be forced to call them!!!
Also what about TBD and ROOM SERVICE 2000? Check them out and see which is worse!!!

For the vast majority of people living with HIV, preventing others from becoming infected with the virus that they carry is a primary concern. HIV positive individuals are, after all, only too aware of just how difficult it can be to live with the illness, and few would wish it on anybody else.
This said, not all HIV positive people take the precautions that they perhaps should. Scare stories of people ‘deliberately’ or ‘recklessly’ transmitting HIV to others have appeared in the media since the epidemic first began, and some of the individuals concerned have even been criminally charged and imprisoned for their actions. But while at first it might seem obvious to prosecute someone for recklessly or intentionally infecting another with an ultimately fatal virus, this assumption, and its consequences, can present numerous problems.
