LOWER CHAMBER PASSES RESOLUTION CONDEMNING CONGRESSMAN’S ACTION 240-179
The U.S. House of Representatives voted Tuesday to formally rebuke Congressman Joe Wilson for yelling “you lie” at President Barack Obama on national television last week.
Following an hour-long debate on H.R. 744, which “disapproves of [Wilson's] behavior during the joint session of Congress held on Sept. 9,” the House voted 240-179 to admonish the South Carolina representative.
The resolution called Wilson’s actions “a breach of decorum [that] degraded the proceedings of the joint session, to the discredit of the House.”
In a statement released after the vote, Wilson said the resolution was an attempt by Democrats to “muzzle” dissenters and distract voters away from the socialist takeover of private health care.
“I think it is clear to the American people that there are far more important issues facing this nation than what we are addressing right now,” Wilson said. “However, this action today will have done nothing for the taxpayers to rein in the growing cost and size of the federal government. It will not help more Americans secure jobs, promote better education, insure retirement, or reform health insurance.”
A total of seven Republicans voted against Wilson with 12 Democrats voting in his favor. Five members voted present and 10 did not vote.
The resolution, which Democrats said they would pass if Wilson did not apologize on the House floor, carries no actual punishment for the Congressman.
Wilson refused to apologize again, saying Sunday, “I’ve apologized one time. The apology was accepted by the president, the vice president… I am not apologizing again.”

A perfect example of why they all need thrown out – except Joe Wilson. A COMPLETE WASTE OF OUR MONEY!
Well, that’s an hour of taxpayer time we will never get back
Republicans forced Van Jone’s out because of a petition he signed in 2004 and a disparaging comment he made about Republicans. Yet Joe Wilson screams “you lie” during the President’s televised address to Congress and received little more than a proverbial slap on the wrist. Maybe Van Jones was right……..

[...] 09/15/2009: Wilson rebuked by U.S. House [...]
It is unfortunate that boorishness is not impeachable.
It was an hour well spent by Congress. To bad they couldn’t boot the racist out. The political atmosphere on the right has reached such a nasty, immoral, fevered pitch that it is just a matter of time before one of the village idiots gets caught on audio or video making an an overtly racist statement. The U-tubes and phone cams of the world are ready, willing and able to expose the GOPs true self.
Clyburn…let’s see… is in a gerrymendered district. And is the Majority leader…hmmmm. Has anyone ever tried to see him in his office in DC? You can’t, not any “ordinary” citizen. He’s too busy for themost of the folks back home, except…well, you know.
Joe Wilson is available, I’ve met with him twice, and he takes time to talk. very welcoming and interested. A statesman.
It is not surprising that the US house of representatives did this. I think that most Americans are waking up to the fact of socialism/communism has deguise itself under liberalism in both parties. Thats why I tell people that you can’t vote for the party any more you have to vote on the character of the indidivual. The liberals in both US houses know they have but a short time and thats why their attitude of disregarding what majority of Americans are saying is arrogance at its best. Thank you Joe Wilson for taking a stand. Obama needs to apologize to the American people for calling us liars. Clean house American, clean house really good and thorough.
