Open Mic Productions, the record label to which South African singer Makhadzi is signed, has dismissed recent claims that the songstress collected money for a performance in Tzaneen but failed to show up.
According to the company, she was never booked and there was no way she could have showed up when the proper thing wasn’t done to book her.
Controversy had broken out after a businessman called Jeffrey Maltji claimed that he paid R45k to book the singer -but blamed event organisers and another singer, King Monada, for Makhadzi’s no-show. Jeffrey claimed to her confronted King Monada over Makhadzi’s no-show, but the “Malwedhe” singer insisted that he had paid Makhadzi.
At that point. Jeffrey noted that he didn’t know who to believe again.
Reacting to the whole claims, Open Mic Productions insisted that there was never an invoice for Makhadzi’s booking. In other words, she was never booked as claimed, and there was no way she could have performed without getting her booking fee.
Interestingly, King Monada had taken to Facebook, where he accepted responsibility for what happened and urged the public to stop blaming Makhadzi. Makhadzi responded to his post, noting it was “too deep.” You can check it out below.
