Watch: Former ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule Launches New Party, ACT

In politics, we often hear that there are no permanent friends, only permanent interests. People would leave folds their interests are not being served and join when their interests are. This reality plays out all around us.

South African politician Ace Magashule is the latest example of this reality. Formerly a top-ranking member of the ruling African National Congress (ANC), where he once held the secretary-general position. The politician now heads a new political party called African Congress for Transformation (ACT).

Magashule was expelled from the ANC and wasted no time determining his political future must continue but on a different pedestal – one founded and closely controlled by him. So ACT was born.

The former Free State premier announced the formation of the political party yesterday, August 30, in Soweto, He also addressed the press about his latest political move, the clip of which is available at the bottom of this post.

Of course, it is one thing to move to another political party and a different ball game to actually wrestle power from the ruling party, which has been in power since apartheid was dismantled in the 90s.

Well, all eyes are on Magashule to see where he propels his new toy.
