FMR. ASSISTANT ATTY. GEN. SAYS CAMPAIGN WILL FOCUS ON FAMILY

Alan Wilson made it official Tuesday: He’s running for South Carolina Attorney General.

Wilson kicked off his campaign at the Columbia Chamber of Commerce building in Columbia with his wife Jennifer, one-year-old son Michael, parents Joe and Roxanne, and other family members at his side.

“The reason I am standing here at this moment can be wrapped up in one word, and that word is ‘family,’” Wilson said. “On so many fronts, it is essential for us to have a continuity of vigilance in our struggle against all types of crime in South Carolina.”

Wilson, a former assistant attorney general and assistant solicitor from Lexington County, outlined the importance of having an attorney general that is experienced and can be tough on crime.

The son of Congressman Joe Wilson said he has that experience as a prosecutor at both the county and state level and as a Major in the South Carolina Army National Guard.

“I decided to run this race because I want to do all I can to keep your family and mine safe, happy and secure in dangerous times.”

Wilson will continue his announcement during a week-long tour of the state. On Wednesday, he will make stops in Greenville and Spartanburg, followed by a swing through Florence and Myrtle Beach on Thursday, and a visit to Charleston and Beaufort on Friday.

You make me sick. You are a lie. Didn’t your mother teach you how to show respect to the President of the United States. She probably only taught you to respect white presidents.

That’s all republicans in hicksville South Carolina need. Another “family values” candidate. You just know he has been to a rest area bathroom and been with a man. Any time they say family you know they have skeletons in their closet.

The Wilson’s are a reason why the state of South Carolina is the state it is today. I know you are not your father but my goodness you would think a U. S. Congressman should be able to control himself when he is listening to a speech from The President of The United States of America.

A fellow Southerner that is not happy with the Wilson’s of South Carolina.

I hope he plans to apologize for his father’s behavior during the President’s speech. Such an insult to the office of the President, the Congress, and the American people requires an apology. I cannot imagine Congressman (not) Wilson has the courage to do so, leaving the hard work of integrity to be handled by his son.

its my hope that Alan Wilson is not disrespectful like his father. I would be embarrassed if on the same day I announce my candidacy while my father spued crap out of his mouth to the highest office in this country. Joe Wilson was a military officer, I am sure he repremanded his troops, the same should be his fate for his lowest moment in his career.

joe wilson should resign, he is an embarrassment to the Republican Party that i have supported. What a loser, South Carolina should demand that he resign. You can disagree with the President but to embarrass the state and the party is over the top.

How disrespectful of the American Presidency. I doubt that the apple falls far from the tree. How embarrassing….and this behavior is part of the reason America is in the terrible state it is, when there is only partisanship and not patriotism that is required to fix the terrible mess we are in. the Republican party deserves the losses it received in the last election. I will not vote for future Republicans

I will allow that a son is not responsible for his fathers indiscretions, but damn Alan, you must be really proud of your old man tonight.

He may have just ended two careers with one (verbal) stone.

As a South Carolinian for all of my 49 years, I have never been so embarrassed by the crass actions of of a “supposed” congressman, of any party. You are a total unmitigated embarrassment for the great State of SC “congressman Wison. I am sickened by the “redneckism” exhibited by this rude and disrespectful behavior on our nation’s stage. congressman Wilson’s outburst has further coarsened the discussion and put SC, once again on the map of embarrassment. I am a life long resident of SC, and I am totally ashamed of this so-called representative. Apologize now Mr. Wilson. By the way, just so you know, I am a medical professional, have been for 28 years, I am white, a professional woman, and think you should go far far away. You sicken me for our beautiful state and do not deserve to live in this state, or represent the wonderful people of SC. I am just sick by this horrific and rude behavior. Go away, just go away. You have shamed us beyond words.

It is disguisting the behavior that was shown on television by your family member. If he doesn’t like the President that much, move to another country. Respect is the word that apparently your family was never taught. Please don’t tell us what church he belongs to because it would be a disgrace to the members and God.

I can totally believe that a redneck from West Columbia would pull a stunt like that. Home of racist bar-b-que, cockfighting mascots, and they still fly the confederate flag. Mix it all up with some twisted southern baptist religion and you have a backwards ass inbred culture that should have died decades ago.

I am a former army officer…75th Rangers. You should be ashamed as an army officer for the actions of your father. Your father has probably participated in send off and homecoming ceremonies for American soldiers going overseas but he blatantly disrespects of President. Both of you should be ashamed. The President…regardless of party affiliation, is the Commander in Chief and the office should be respected by every member of the armed forces and there should be a healthy respect for the office by every American. I was not a supporter of George W Bush but I would never disrespect the office of the President with an outburst like this. Your family name is soiled for generations. The only support you will have is from the idiots in South Carolina. You should apologize to the men under your command.

Boy! It is amazing to watch the racist hate for the President by redneck South Carolinians continue to emerge. I guess (joe-blo wilson) and (sleezy marky-mark) (intentional lower case disrespect) also want their country back from a Black President. Well, they and all the rest of yall had better get a grip! Anyway, how low is it for a military (present or former) call the Commander in Chief of the US a liar? joe-blo should be demanded to resign and blo jr. should be the first to make the demand. If not, he should not be elected to any position in SC. If this is his background, how can he be trusted with the safety of Black or any citizens of South Carolina?

As a Republican, Wilson has inspired me. I plan on going to work this morning and calling my boss a “liar” during our budget meeting. Why not? I feel my boss is a liar and in my opinion that gives me every right to do so. I feel that people who are on my side in this have been wronged by him and will take my side in the matter. Then I will apologize afterwards, keep my job and go about my business.

This guy spent years in the national guard, safely tucked away from any combat duty. Now comes the son following in dads footprints. Proud military family. LETS CALL IT LIKE IT IS . They are just like many others in political office that have managed the stay completely away from any kind of dangerous assignment. When was the last time you heard of a military lawyer getting cut down by a burst of automatic weapon fire. Give me a break.

Is Frank Wilson joking or does he really not know how to spell common English words and use basic grammar? I know that South Carolina is near the bottom of the country in ACT/SAT scores. Does Frank Wilson teach high school English? That would help explain the low test scores.

It clearly states in the Health Care bill that illegal immigrants will NOT BE ALLOWED COVERAGE. Therefore the President did NOT lie.
Either Joe Wilson was lying or he is too uninformed on the topic that he doesn’t know this.
IF he truly believes the illegals are allowed insurance in the bill he should meet with the president and show where it says so and have an intelligent, honest discussion. But that may be showing too much respect for the President and so he decided that being a coward was the better way to handle it.

But it could have been worse!! At least he didn’t throw his shoe at the President!!

I seem to be the only one on here that agreed with Representative Joe Wilson. Man, I can’t believe all these comments. I for one was saying the very same thing to obama at his speech! I am glad that finally we had someone that had enough guts to stand up to this man. Rep. Joe Wilson spoke more truth, honesty and intergrity in those short words than obama and his adminstration has done since he has been elected. Further more, I don’t see why he thought he had to apolgize to obama. Obama is our president and he has lied over and over again to us! Now, tell me something, why can the leader of this country get up on telelvision and lie to us the american people but this representative gets bashed and put down for speaking the truth. Well, I for one was very proud of him and I wish he would move to Tennessee. Why is it that everybody is so in love with obama and wants to follow him like a little puppy. I am so fed up with him, pelosi, barney frank, frank reid, obama’s dangerous czars and the list goes on and on. When are you people going to wake up and no I don’t have to have Foxnews to think for me, I am very thankful that they are doing an awesome job and they are getting the real truth out there and I hope they keep at it, but I can think for myself and research for myself and I remember seeing obama on Ophra Winfrey’s, him and michelle and their two girls and I saw right thru him even at that point and he was still a senator and I thought something is going on because he hadn’t really said he was running for president! So Representative Wilson, you have alot more people behind you than you think. Just please don’t apologize anymore to him. You did nothing wrong, if anybody needs to apologize it is obama himself to you and the american people but I am sure that will never happen. Where was the outrage when Pres. Bush got the shoe thrown at him, man if I was there I would have screaming alot more at obama, trust me, so good job Rep. Wilson, keep up the good work and hey if you want to yell something at him again, I say go for it, and don’t ever back down to him when you know you spoke the truth, we need more people like you!

How pathetic that Palmetto Scoop has become a MoveOn.org tool.
Alan spent two tours in Iraq, and received the Palmetto Cross, yet gets called a coward and white trash redneck by the true racists on this forum.

Joe Wilson has spoken to his constituents and knows how they truly feel. Several publications – not right wing but bipartisan – have noted that the bill for Obamacare was so poorly written that yes, indeed, it could be interpreted to permit illegals to receive “free” health care; sections 159 and 149 especially. Wilson’s constituency (over 40% black, BTW) is overrun already with illegals, causing medical care for taxpayers to be made more expensive and less responsive due to their overwhelming demand in the ERs, as well as raising education and other infrastructure costs for his taxpaying constituents black AND white. Employers reject paying taxpaying Americans, white AND black, to do jobs because they can hire illegals and let the unemployed taxpayers foot the bills for their health and retirement ‘benefits’. Joe Wilson is a FAR cry from being a racist – he is protecting his hardworking, taxpaying black AND white constituents by objecting to handouts for illegals. Too bad that most of the people on this forum aren’t bright enough to figure THAT out.

You should consider yourselves lucky if Alan IS a ‘chip of the old block’. For those South Carolinians who can actually still read, and have read the bill, it is painfully obvious that Joe Wilson spoke the truth. If you are ashamed of Joe Wilson, then you are drinking the POTUS-flavored KoolAid, and are nothing more than a sycophant who believes in hyperbole and emotionalized excitement instead of facts. When every single member of the Democrat Party who booed President Bush at his State of the Union address apologizes, including Pelosi, THEN you donkey-swabbers can talk self-righteously about “decorum”. Until then, you are only displaying the base and emotional ignorance of facts that is a hallmark of your Party.
