CONGRESSMAN, FMR. STAFFER, CUT FROM 2009 ‘MOST BEAUTIFUL’ LIST

South Carolina’s closest connection to Congressional beauty is no more.

Congressman Gresham Barrett has been dethroned on The Hill’s 2009 collection of the 50 Most Beautiful People on Capitol Hill. Barrett, who was ranked ninth on last year’s list, didn’t make the cut this time around.

The Upstate Congressman and gubernatorial candidate’s former staffer, Brecke Latham, also failed to make the list in 2009. Latham came in second overall last year.

Latham, who briefly lived in South Carolina, left Barrett’s office in August 2008 to work for Kansas Rep. Jerry Moran.

Unlike in previous editions, this year’s list did not rank individuals

The Hill’s “Most Beautiful” list is an annual collection of the 50 most attractive members of Congress, staffers and lobbyists as chosen by the magazine’s readers and staff.

That list is as political as the source it comes from. If that’s the best looking that Capitol Hill has, then we are struggling. In any case, I have a friend who was fortunate enough to secure a staff position in an office with 1 young lady in the top 10 and another in the general top 50 and recently signed a lease with a landlord who is also in the top 50. Of course with kid #2 on the way, he can look but not touch!
