COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR DEPARTS AFTER 6 1/2 YEARS WITH SANFORD
The man who has loyally stood by Mark Sanford for the past six-and-a-half years, and was at his side working the media during the recent disappearance and affair scandal, is leaving the governor’s office.
Communications Director Joel Sawyer announced Friday that he would be stepping down effective Wednesday, Aug. 5.
“The public nature of my job might lead some to speculate about my reasons for leaving, but I want to be crystal clear that my departure is purely about what’s best for me and my family on a personal and financial level,” Sawyer said. “I wish Mark and the rest of my talented and dedicated colleagues the best.”
Sawyer added, “This has been one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make, because I have and will continue to be such an ardent supporter of what this Administration is working to accomplish.”
Sanford’s Cabinet Director Ben Fox will take over for Sawyer upon his departure.
The governor called Sawyer, who had the unenviable task of having to handle reporters when Sanford left the country to visit his mistress last month, “a wonderfully devoted and skillful member of our team. The people of our state have benefited greatly from his service, as has this Administration, and I sincerely thank him.”
Sawyer said he would be pursuing a few private business ventures after he leaves the governor’s office.
Nice to hear Mr. Sawyer wants to ruin the state of South Carolina too. Maybe he believes in privatizing Social Security too. That’s part of what the Governor and the Mrs. are doing.
I’ve been screaming and yelling for four years that Social Security has been privatized.
I believe our Governor had a big role in ALREADY PRIVATIZING SOCIAL SECURITY, like Argentina did.

In Sanfraud’s own statement, Sanford praised his long-time aide. “Joel has been a wonderfully devoted and “skillful” member of our team. The people of our state have benefited greatly from his service, as has this administration”

Rats Fleeing From Sanford’s Sinking Ship
Gov. Mark Sanford’s spokesman has quit.
Joel Sawyer, the communications director who told the media that his boss was hiking the Appalachian Trail when Sanford was actually seeing his mistress in Argentina, announced his decision today.
I fully expect more top aides to leave in the upcoming weeks and months as they recognize that Sanford is now the nation’s most impotent state executive.
Meanwhile Sanford is out of the state again.

Department Of Homeland Security Worried About Mark Sanford’s Disappearance
South Carolina’s Charleston Post and Courier has posted online some 570 pages of internal emails out of Mark Sanford’s office that were obtained through a FOIA request, and here’s an amusing postcript:
It appears the Department of Homeland Security raised concerns internally about his disappearance, suggesting the possibility that the Feds may have worried that Sanford’s MIA status signaled a national security threat. This underscores yet again the irresponsibility of his vanishing act.
On page 523 of the emails, you find an email chain involving a DHS official and Sanford’s aides. A DHS media monitoring official, Margaret Luther, emailed DHS employees a copy of a State article about his disappearance, with an amusingly clinical subject line:
“South Carolina Governor Whereabouts Unknown”
That email was forwarded to Sanford’s Washington office, and the expression of concern from DHS prompted a bit of joking among Sanford’s aides, with one emailing another:
DHS is worried about the governor (in an unofficial way). Big Brother is watching.
It’s just yet another way that Sanford’s goofball disappearance taxed us all, even consuming Federal resources
