ROCK STARS TWEET ENTIRE EVENT, GET BANNED FROM CITY PRIOR TO PERFORMANCE
The appearance of pop star Gavin DeGraw and the rock band Collective Soul was apparently too much to take Sunday for patrons of a bar in Myrtle Beach.
Prior to a show at the The House of Blues, the members of a tour stopped by “an unnamed watering hole” to celebrate the end of their co-headlining tour.
Instead, they caused a brawl that left them banned from the city for a year. And their thousands of followers on Twitter had a front-row seat for all of it.
“Me and my crew just got in a 20 man brawl with a group of juiced up [expletive],” DeGraw posted on his Twitter account immediately following the altercation. “I guess they think that just cos I write love songs that I….Won’t throw down like a man. They were slow and drunk, but that woopin is gonna hurt worse than their hangovers. Goodnite to those……Douches!”
According to Collective Soul front man Ed Roland, the fight took place after a female bar-goer “made a comment to her boyfriend about either my brother or Gavin being a good-looking dude.” Roland said the woman’s boyfriend then “went for Gavin but got [his brother] Dean” in the face.
“First shot I’ve taken to the face,” Dean Roland wrote on the Collective Soul Twitter account.
Luckily for deGraw and Collective Soul, their Monday night show is in North Myrtle Beach, which shouldn’t present a conflict after police banned them from returning to Myrtle Beach.
But, for DeGraw, this is the second time he has faced difficulty in South Carolina.
Following a September 2008 show in Columbia, which DeGraw headlined, fellow performers Travis Barker and DJ-AM were the only survivors of a tragic six passenger flight that crashed on takeoff.
Shame on Gav! I still like his music though.
Why shame on Gav? The guy went after him (because his girlfriend said he was a handsome dude – what an insecure guy). The guy then punched Dean in the face. It’s from Gavin’s or Dean’s fault. They were simply defending themselves. Gavin is one of the nicest artists in the world. He would never start a fight… defend himself or his friends, yes, but he did not start this. And… his music is awesome!
I Watch this whole fight out front of Croc Rocks at broadway at the beach… Don’t Know how it started but I Must say it was wanna the worst fights I have ever seen in my life. I have seen 6 yr old’s have better fights! But There was this Short Stuby dude with Collective Soul Crew that was running his mouth a lil bit and Got the SHIT Smacked Outta of Em!!! With a Open Hand ,all he did was pick up his hat that was knocked to the ground off his head. And Gavin DeGraw Actually Got In the Mix During a pile up and Drop 2 elbows like a 3 yr old girl. Me and My Boys laugh about this whole thing for hours… Get Security fellas
