8 STUDENT MOVIEMAKERS ARRESTED FOR FILMING SIMULATED SEX SCENES
Folks spending time in Myrtle Beach better think twice before they pretend to have sex in public, because it could land you behind bars.
The Smoking Gun obtained a police report from July 2 in which eight young filmmakers were arrested for indecent exposure for allegedly filming simulated sex acts on the beach for a spring break-themed movie.
From TSG:
Myrtle Beach cops rounded up the group–all of whom attend or have graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts–after witnesses reported seeing a woman “fellating or simulating fellatio” on a man late Wednesday evening. None of the witnesses, however, reported seeing any nudity, according to a July 2 Myrtle Beach Police Department report.
One of those busted told TSG that the group was filming “Beach Week,” a comedy about six college students, and that “there was nothing illegal going on” during filming, which included no nudity. The eight arrestees, seen in the below mug shots, included actress Taylor Hancock, 21, and actor/director Joseph Flanders, 21.
After spending about 12 hours in custody, crew members were each released on $1000 bond. Along with seizing camera equipment and the “Beach Week” script, cops also confiscated a jacket embroidered with the word “Police.” The garment, a crew member told TSG, was to have been worn by an actor portraying a cop. The script called for the fictional policeman to issue a summons to Hancock and Flanders for their inappropriate display of affection.
So basically, these eight students were tossed in jail by an overzealous police officer for doing absolutely nothing illegal?
After the debacle that was “Nailed” and the state’s complete inability to bring in anything decent through the millions spent on wasteful “film incentives,” news like this doesn’t help.
We might as well just post unshaven mountain folk wearing overalls and straw hats at the border with shotguns. Every time they see a movie camera they can cock the shotgun, make a real menacing face, spit on the ground and say, “y’all movie guys take one more step and I gonna blow yer head off.”

One look at that crowd and I bet the movie was going to be rated…PG for “Pig Goobers”. Dems some homely actors.
Hey Adam Solid Country Gold was nominated for 5 awards at a film festival in California. Hagan is up for best supporting actor against the dude from Hellboy and 4 other people. I’ll let you know if he wins.
One wonders that a NC beach wasn’t good enough for their exploits, as NC School of the Arts grads. Probably a good thing Myrtle Beach officer Fife doesn’t get to the state house, one wonders how many charges for escallatio he’d file againsthe members.
