HUDSON HAS LED DODGERS TO BASEBALL’S BEST RECORD
For the second time in three years, South Carolina native Orlando Hudson has been honored as one of the top players in Major League Baseball.
Hudson, who was born and raised in Darlington, was selected as a National League reserve second baseman for next week’s MLB All-Star game in St. Louis.
The 31-year-old Hudson has led the Los Angeles Dodgers to baseball’s best record, batting .288 with five home runs and 41 RBI. But recently, the three-time gold glove winner has been battling a wrist injury that thrust him into an 0-for-22 slump.
“I’m in a trying time right now,” Hudson said. “I got a flat tire. I can’t call the tow truck. He doesn’t want to come. I got myself in it. I have to get myself out of it.”
The July 14 AL v. NL showdown will mark Hudson’s second trip to the Midsummer Classic. He was previously selected in 2007 when he was with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
