SINGER WAS ONLY 50, PRESCRIPTION DRUGS MAY HAVE CAUSED CARDIAC ARREST

The world is in complete shock this evening as sources have confirmed that the “King of Pop,” Michael Jackson, has died.

Jackson, 50, was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center around 1 p.m. Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home. He was pronounced dead roughly 90 minutes later.

An autopsy on Jackson’s body is scheduled for Friday.

Jackson will be remembered both for his music and for controversy.

He sold more than 750 million records worldwide, had 13 number one singles in his solo career, and won 13 Grammy awards, making him one of the most successful recording artists of all time.

But he also ran into legal trouble over allegations of child molestation. Jackson settled a 1993 lawsuit out of court for $1.5 million, and in 2005 was acquitted on charges of child sexual abuse.

It was also rumored that he was heavily addicted to prescription drugs, something that may have contributed to his untimely death.

He was set to launch a 50 date “This Is It” comeback tour at London’s famous O2 arena later this year.

Jackson leaves behind three children and a legion of fans.
