GOVERNOR LIED TO STAFF ABOUT WHEREABOUTS, DODGES QUESTIONS ABOUT POSSIBLE RESIGNATION

The truth surrounding the six-day disappearance of Mark Sanford has finally surfaced, as the governor Wednesday admitted that he has been having an extramarital affair with a woman in Argentina.

“I have been unfaithful to my wife,” Sanford said at a very crowded press conference. “I developed a relationship with a friend from Argentina. It began innocently, but developed into more than that.”

Sanford said he was resigning as chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association, but dodged questions as to whether or not he would step down as governor.

“I’ve let down a lot of people,” Sanford said while apologizing to his wife, four children, friends and the people of South Carolina. “That’s the bottom line.”

The governor did not say the woman’s name, but said the affair began about a year ago. He said he and the First Lady have been working for five months to “reconcile” the situation.

There have already been calls for the governor’s impeachment, although it is unclear if that is possible or if the legislature would have the votes to do so.

“I spent the last 5 days of my life crying in Argentina,” added Sanford.

For now, the question that folks all across South Carolina will be asking is, “should or will Sanford resign?” Have your say in the poll below…

I love it Adam. Lets see your boys blast Andre out of the mansion once he is in there. If I were McMaster…I would be pissed.

This breaks my heart, but does not surprise me AT ALL.

FATHER’s Day weekend….hiking…WITHOUT his sons???? WHO was going to buy THAT load of Carolina horse biscuits—PAHleeeez.

REAL SHOCKA….his affair was with a WOMAN. Do we know? Maybe he was “holed up” with some of Windsey Graham’s buddies….////snark….

I am as ROCK RIBBED a CONSERVATIVE as they come…President of the College Republicans at CofC back in the day….SO THIS WOUNDS ME TO MY VERY CORE TO SAY…but….HANG HIM HIGH. If we don’t then we can’t claim the moral high ground on ANYthing.

The problem is that we will NEVER FIND a Governor or anyone above a city councilman who isn’t DRUNK ON HIS OWN POWER. Because everyone must “pay the political machine its dues”, our system is TOO DAMN BROKE to get some farmer with common sense to step up and run this State for a two term limit.

Everything is broken, so Washinton would have us believe—BIG HEALTHCARE, BIG AUTO, BIG BANKING……so when the Hell are we going to stand up and REMIND THOSE B^STARDS THAT “BIG POLITICS” is broken too!!!!

SCREW THE SCGOP if it can’t dig deeeeep and find ONE DECENT citizen off the street to redeem its soiled reputation….

I will be glad to nominate myself as Pickens County’s own Sarah Palin….and STEP BACK….because I may ride in on a BROOM, but I will CLEAN HOUSE when I get there!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a joke. Sanford is a nut, and the state deserves better. He can cry all the way out of office!!

Am I the only one who thinks that Mark Sanford’s supporters owe Catherine Ceips and Wallace Scarborough an apology?

I saw you on national TV and you were articulate and asking the right questions. Good job! Now identify the gal (or guy?) the gov was hanging out with and I’ll buy you a beer. Ever tried Palo Santo Marron from Dogfish? It’s made in tanks built with Paraguayan Palo Santo wood. The New Yorker wrote a story about it too.

Wow! Mark really does love Maria

Listen throw bricks at me or whatever but his wife comes off as cold hearted witch, hugging her bible.

Well if she believes the bible literally she would know she is commanded not to abandon her husband much less kick him out of the house.

It takes two to make a marriage break up , so far she is getting a free ride and is painted as some kind of saint….please!

hug your husband lady or another woman will.

Our champion of fiscal conservatism and family values apparently began his Argentine adventure during a Congressional junket paid for by American taxpayers. He is currently saying he met her more than 8 years ago but that the “sparking thing” began in the “last year.” His emails to Maria as of last June suggest this affair was in full bloom. There are still a lot of questions to be answered.

The spin from his political partisans seems to be that this is a personal tragedy and that we should all give this man and his family some privacy. But it seems this is a very much a story of a political man posturing in his public life and prevaricating in his personal life. The personal is political and the public deserves some straight answers to some probing questions.
