BAUER MAY BE RUNNING SC EXECUTIVE OFFICE
South Carolina’s lieutenant governor may have inadvertently become governor a whole lot sooner than he had planned.
The State newspaper is reporting on a rumor that had been circulating all day about the sudden disappearance of Gov. Mark Sanford.
Yes, according to the paper, Sanford hasn’t been heard from since Thursday and some officials believe Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer — who is himself running for the top executive post next year — has been “in charge of the executive office.”
Neither the governor’s office nor the State Law Enforcement Division has been able to reach Sanford, who left the mansion in a black SLED Suburban SUV, said Sen. Jake Knotts and three others familiar with the situation who declined to be identified.
Sanford’s last known whereabouts were near Atalanta, where a mobile telephone tower picked up a signal from his phone, authorities said. [...]
First lady Jenny Sanford told The Associated Press her husband has been gone for several days and she doesn’t know where. She said she was not concerned. Jenny Sanford said the governor said he needed time away from their children to write something.
Sanford spokesman Joel Sawyer declined to discuss with the AP where the governor was. Sawyer told the AP he was taking time to “recharge” after his failed fight against federal stimulus money.
I’m guessing Sanford just up and went on some random vacation and that a few folks are trying to give Bauer a test run at the governor’s mansion. But who honestly knows with Sanford?
And what exactly would he be writing that would require him to disappear for five days without telling anyone? Hopefully everything is alright.
It’s interesting, though, that this happened during Father’s Day weekend. Maybe he’s on a super secret economic development mission — the first of his term as governor.

Y’all really should have taken that stimulus money!
I hope he is safe. I hope he is relaxing and recuperating, from the stress of being a Governor. But I also hope this puts an end to any speculation this man could ever be President of the United States.

Where is the man with the football?
Adam Fogle is a fat, ugly, worthless, disgusting bag of goo, and Sanford is crooked and insane. He is probably in a place where hookers and crack run like rivers! Maybe he is off with his homosexual lover. What a piece of crap he is. A total failure as governor.
Nice one, John Land. Maybe you are just disoriented and confused. I hope he’s writing a conservative manifesto that will be studied 300 years from now on how to govern a state of leftard Obamatons. And Howie, what a piece of crap YOU are.
So, which is it, he is on a fishing trip like FITS says or is off writing something like his wife is quoted as saying? These mixed explanations are the kind privates in the army offer after they have been AWOL for four days.
Hopefully he is OK – even though he really is an awful governor. Howie sounds a bit like a jealous, child completely devoid of self-worth. I haven’t heard such silly banter since middle school. Adam is a good, tallented man and has obviously made more of himself than the likes of Howie (despite the obstacles life has dealt Adam). It clearly weighs heavily on someone like Howie who can’t begin to measure up to Adam — whose best response to Adam’s well-written blog is to call him ugly and fat. An Adam understandably struggles with his weight since being in a wheelchair prevents him from running on a treadmill. Howie, what’s your excuse for being an idiot?

The man just wants to take a few days off hiking the trail and getting a breather… and that’s bad why? I’d like to just take a few days to go hike the trail or get away from work! And you seriously think his wife doesn’t know where he is? they were just trying to keep the news and everyone from following him. Not a bad thing in my opinion. And fathers day is for him, so if what he wants to do is to spend some time with nature so be it. If he were to miss a kids birthday, or anniversary or something, then you should get mad! And it’s not his fault he is required to take a SLED vehicle (then walking), so people need to get over that. It’s a lot cheaper than flying somewhere and spending a whole lot of money.
