STATE NEWSPAPER CONGRATULATES GAMECOCKS FOR ALSO BEING AVERAGE
They say “misery loves company.” But for The State newspaper, it’s more like “mediocrity loves company.”
The State Media Company — the newspaper’s advertising arm — ran a quarter-page ad this week congratulating the Gamecocks for “recording at least a .500 record in all three sports in the same season.”
Yes… they actually praised South Carolina’s football, basketball and baseball teams for being average. And that’s pretty funny given that The State newspaper is just barely clinging to average itself.
Even better, The State added this gem: “This is the first time this feat has been achieved since becoming a member of the Southeastern Conference. Go Gamecocks!”
For those of you keeping track, South Carolina joined the SEC in 1991. That’s 18 years.
Now, I’m not sure if the ad was meant to be sarcastic, but Gamecock fans will probably tell you someone at The State should be fired. Seriously… what moron thought this was a good idea?

That is hilarious.
[...] When your best is…well average. Mediocrity loves company [...]
