BAUER’S CHIEF OF STAFF STEPS DOWN, REPLACED BY PRT STAFFER
The chief of staff to Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer will be leaving his post within the next 30 days, sources have confirmed.
The Palmetto Scoop first reported earlier this month that Jim Miles would be leaving Bauer’s office.
Now TPS has confirmed that Miles will be replaced by former South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism senior staffer Helen Ann Thrower.
Miles came under heavy scrutiny for his involvement in the Senior Shield program. Critics claimed he misused the program’s public tax dollars to turn a personal profit.
Attempts to reach the lieutenant governor’s office were unsuccessful.
________
UPDATE: Gov. Mark Sanford’s office has also confirmed the story.
________
UPDATE 2: The official statement from Bauer’s office:
“Helen Ann Thrower brings a wealth of experience and valuable knowledge,” said Lt. Governor Bauer. “She has served as an assistant clerk for the House of Representatives; as legal counsel for the Legislative Ethics Committee; the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism; the SC Medical Association; and the Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee.”

Maybe Andre will take protecting the vulnerable adults a little more seriously now? Maybe?
To Lou: The Lt. Governor and his staff have always taken protecting Seniors very, very seriously. People that make up their minds based on falsehoods and gossip do not serve themselves or SC well. There is and was no evil plan there. Those who could and would know otherwise, know that all is above board. Find something more real and important to talk about. This is a non-issue. Use your energy to get our gov. to take the stimulus money, help tutor or mentor kids, volunteer for DSS or one of the hospitals, rally for better care for the mentally ill and the unemployed. I do NOT work for any constitutional officer, nor am I related to any current ones. I am just a concerned senior that believes in Andre’s missions and actions.
