GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES APPREANCE WITH FORMER U.S. HOUSE SPEAKER

Gov. Mark Sanford was apparently none-too-happy after reading on The Palmetto Scoop Tuesday that former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich was coming to South Carolina to meet with House Republicans.

So on Wednesday, the governor’s office announced that Sanford had added himself to Gingrich’s schedule and would be joining him for a special workshop on “Creating a 21st Century Intelligent Health System in South Carolina.”

I’m not sure if that program had already included Sanford or not, but it sure does now.

The event will be held Thursday at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center at 1101 Lincoln Street in Columbia in the Richland Room.

But be prepared to spend a little time there. The program starts at 12 p.m. and runs for five hours. Yikes.

How can Sanford speak at anything with “intelligent” in the title?

Adam, you’ve uncovered quite the nefarious scheme.

Why wouldn’t Gingrich drop a week long media blitz to come meet the collective genius of the House Republican Caucus on Thursday, then agree to a hastily-arranged five hour conference with Sanford in the middle of it?

Maybe, and I’m just throwing this out there, the Conference with Sanford was planned, say months ago, like he did with Governor Bobby Jindal in Louisiana (link, just for you).

Then go meet the so-called Republican Caucus while in town. Since the Speaker would be the first to know, you and RQA would be the second. It’s really simple math man.

    Way to go there Scoop.

If Sanford ever gets some half smart people to work with, he will prove all of you doubters wrong. He has the right ideas for government, but you have a entrenched state congress who have had their way too long. Hes not the problem in SC, he’s a sign of hope. Someone needs to stand up to these clowns and I am glad hes not too scared of the political damage to do it. I hope you all will be open to that if it ever happens.

“Gov. Mark Sanford was apparently none-too-happy after reading on The Palmetto Scoop Tuesday”

HeeHee… Y’all aren’t even on the Governor’s radar… I mentioned The Palmetto Scoop to him and he didn’t even know who you are…

We’re so lucky to have Sanford as our Governor, if only our other elected officials had some clue about spending our money…
