RASMUSSEN: 51% VIEW PROTESTS FAVORABLY, ONLY 33% OPPOSE

Despite the best efforts of liberals in the media and on the ground, a new nationwide poll shows that the majority of Americans believe the Tea Party movement is a good thing.

According to a Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey published Monday, 51 percent of respondents held a favorable view of last week’s Tax Day Tea Parties while only 33 percent held an unfavorable view.

The poll found that 58 percent of Americans closely followed recent new stories about the tea party protests, including 32 percent who followed the news very closely. Only 41 percent didn’t follow the reports.

Broken down by political affiliation, 83 percent of Republicans and 49 percent of independent Americans have a favorable view of the tea parties. Roughly 28 percent of Democrats said the same.

Today Rasmussen released a poll showing that 59 percent of Americans believe the federal bailouts for banks and other financial institutions were a bad idea.

If you watched the video from last Friday’s Greenville Tea Party starring Congressman Gresham Barrett, however, you would have already known the results to both of these polls in advance.

    1. Hi! This is a poll to see how you feel about the Republican Tea Party meeting last week.

Answer from concern citizen: You got me Dude! I thought the Alice In Wonderland remake movie wasn’t coming out until next year.

The 51% number is meaningless since you have to weight the number of responses you are going to count as to Republican, Independent and Democrat to reflect the makeup of the population. That requires some level of subjectivity and certainly would very greatly from state to state and pollster to pollster.

Rasmussen usually is reasonable in his polling however, so I suspect the 83% of Reps, 29% of Democrats, and 49% of Independents is probably reasonable. So in the end, if you are a Republican you are highly likely to support the Tea Parties; and if you are a Democrat you are highly likely to oppose the Tea Parties and if you are an independent you probably do not support the Tea Parties.

I think most people could have figured that out without the cost of polling; but hey that’s what pollsters do.

[...] baby! Here we go—I am such a right-wing fascist, aren’t I? As the popular Tea Party demonstrations have, well, demonstrated, I guess I’m quite mainstream here [...]
