CONGRESSMAN SHOUTED DOWN BY PROTESTERS FOR ANTI-ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION VIEWS

When the Youth for Western Civilization invited Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo to speak at the University of North Carolina, I doubt they imagined quite how the event would turn out.

As Tancredo — who has become a controversial leader in the anti-illegal immigration movement — entered to a standing-room only crowd in Room 103 of Bingham Hall Tuesday evening, he was immediately disrupted by a small group of protesters (video above).

“This is the free speech crowd, right?” Tancredo joked after being heckled by individuals in the small classroom.

“Not for hate speech,” one protester replied.

Two individuals in the front of the crowd then unfurled a banner that read “no dialogue with hate.” Some protesters then began chanting the message on the banner while others called Tancredo a racist and hurled profanities at him.

It was reported prior to Tancredo’s visit that the Carolina Hispanic Association, Students for a Democratic Society and Feminist Students United would stage a protest against “hating certain people.”

A few moments after the banner was held up, campus police escorted the protesters out on the room.

Tensions in the room continued to spill over (video here) as a number of folks in attendance began shouting that the protesters had been tasered and maced.

Police did release pepper spray outside the room but never used a Taser. Tancredo was forced to leave the event without giving the speech after one student broke a window.

At least this puts USC closer to UNC.

It seems those who are protesting “hate” seem to be so full of hate.

I fear for the future of this country.

Is it just me, or do they sound sorta brainwashed — and hateful?

Just another example of the Left’s intolerance of people who disagree with them and their lack of respect for everyone’s right to free speech. They are part of the Socialist-Fascist movement … and would prefer to silence their opposition rather than dialogue with them. Incidentally, folks, the Obama administration is in favor of this tactic.

Bill, you are right, they are just ‘getting up in the face’ of their opponents, as Obama told them to.

Did anyone tell Janet Napolitano and the DHS about these losers? While they are on the lookout for non-existent right wing extremism, the violent left continues their idiot antics, shutting down free speech and using violence to intimidate people.

How many windows were broken during the tea parties yesterday? None. Were any Starbucks smashed, any trash cans hurled through bank windows? No. Gotta love it that the reincarnated SDS is back in action. Since the original SDS disintegrated into Bill Ayer’s Weathermen, maybe Janet should be looking into these students, who knows how they’ll end up. Working for Fannie Mae in five years, I’ll bet.

I am getting sick and tired of this I am right and you are wrong attitude. The protesters position seems weak to me because they attacked the man and not his positions. Regardless of whether or not you agree with Tom Tancredo they should have let him speak and ask some questions to him at the end of his speech. That is not only the right way to get your point across but also the American way.
