SPARTANBURG GOP CHAIR LOSES REELECTION BID, DROPS OUT OF STATEWIDE RACE

Everyone’s favorite Upstate bad boy Rick Beltram has gone from South Carolina Republican Party Chair candidate and Spartanburg GOP chair to neither– all in one night.

Only moments after suffering a stunning 291-87 vote defeat to activist LaDonna Ryggs in his reelection bid Tuesday night at the Spartanburg County Republican Party Convention, Beltram announced that he has also “decided as of April 7 to withdraw from the SCGOP race.”

Attempts to immediately contact Beltram for further comment were unsuccessful.

Beltram’s early departure from the race was not a complete surprise, as opponent Karen Floyd had been gaining significant momentum of late. But some South Carolina politicos expected Beltram would hang on through next month’s state convention.

The move all but ensures that Floyd, who is also from Spartanburg, will be the next state chairman of the Republican Party.

Columbia attorney Kevin Hall, who had been the third major candidate to announce for post, withdrew last week over health concerns.

    SEE YA RICK!

Does anyone even feel remotely bad that this guy is out of SC politics? While he is a hard worker, he’s also been quite an embarrassment for quite a while now.

You can be a devoted, intelligent, hard worker and still be a complete f***ing tool [edited for vulgarity] and make your organization look bad.

There are several SC politicos that come to mind with that statement…

    Adam,

I am really starting to enjoy your site, but when you allow profanity it destroys your credibility… There are many ways to drop the f-bomb without dropping it…

I don’t think he even stopped to pick up his gold watch. The guy served his time, he deserves his gold watch. ;) BTW: I hear you, JD.

Oh No! Now Rick is moving to the Democrat party with a new and amazing stimulus program that will stun millions of Tea Party Glen Beck Rednecks in South Carolina……..

    Sewell,

You’re one of the SC politicos I was talking about. But I’m sure you already knew that.

I believed and put out the word for Karen Floyd from the beginning. Better than Kevin Hall or Warren Thompson.

    Go Karen!!!

Adam you are doing a good job with the scoop but watch the language.

    Thanks

Charles — Fixed. Every once in a while one slips through.

Jeffrey — I don’t think you should be preaching about cussing and credibility.

proud of SC — If that offends you, then you need to get out a little more.

That might explain why the County GOP Headquarters office furniture and files were toss into the street last night in front of Mr Beltram South Pine Street Office.
