SC’S FAVORITE SON TO SPEAK AT COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY

South Carolina’s favorite son will return to the Palmetto State next month to send some of the state’s top medical students on their way.

The Digitel has picked up on news that Comedy Central host and former presidential candidate Stephen Colbert will give the Medical University of South Carolina’s commencement address on May 15 in Charleston.

“So, if you’re not affiliated with MUSC, why should you care?” noted The Digitel. “Well, first off we can always hope for Colbert spottings in town, and while the ceremony is for graduates it’s held at the Horseshoe and you’ll probably be able to watch from the sidelines — if you’re really excited at the chance to see Colbert.”

I’m more excited about the possibility that Colbert will show up decked out in his Glenn Beck bunker outfit. For those of you who missed that dust up, click here.

I’m also hoping he’ll address rumors that I just made up 30 seconds ago about a possible 2012 presidential bid. Could that be the year? The Maya say “yes.”
