U.S. SENATE GOP TO HOLD HEARINGS ON EMPLOYEE NO CHOICE ACT
The U.S. Senate Republican Conference and the Republican Policy Committee will hold a hearing today on a controversial union bill that has made major waves in South Carolina.
The Employee Free Choice Act would revoke the right to secret ballot organizing when voting to form a union, which critics claim would allow union organizers to deceive, harass, and threaten workers into unionizing a workplace.
In the Palmetto State, Rep. Eric Bedingfield (R-Greenville) has earned significant national attention for introducing preemptive legislation that would amend the state constitution to protect the right to a secret ballot.
Today’s Senate meeting will discuss the same dangers that Bedingfield and others see in this legislation; namely that it disenfranchises workers and poses a serious threat to small businesses.
And with businesses across the country struggling financially, the last thing Congress needs to do is saddle the businesses that create jobs for Americans with higher costs and more regulation as a result of this misguided legislation.
Let’s hope the folks in Washington are listening to the folks in South Carolina.
