BOTH SC BASEBALL TEAMS END WEEKEND WITH SAME RECORD

Roughly one-third of the way through the 2009 college baseball season, South Carolina and Clemson find themselves in nearly the exact same position.

Both teams lost Sunday to drop a three game series to a conference rival. And both teams now hold a 14-6 record on the season.

In Columbia, the Gamecocks were outscored 24-13 against Southeastern Conference rival Louisiana State over the weekend. The only bright spot was a 7-3 win Saturday night in which the team hit four home runs.

Clemson, meanwhile, also lost two of three to Atlantic Coast Conference foe Florida State. The Tigers managed an extra-inning win Saturday with a late three-run rally.

Up next for South Carolina is a pair of Southern Conference matchups against the College of Charleston on the road Tuesday and Georgia Southern at home Wednesday.

The Tigers remain at home for a two game set against Elon Tuesday and Wednesday before heading north to take on Boston College.
