AWARD-WINNING ARTIST LEAVES STATE NEWSPAPER ON HIGH NOTE

For more than two decades, Robert Ariail has been an ever-present fixture in The State newspaper — making people laugh about news and politics in a way that few can.

But that all came to an end Friday as Ariail departed the paper following a shocking resignation. Before he left, however, he published one last cartoon.

“Will cartoon for food” says a sign being held by a caricature of Ariail. In the background are boxes of Ariail’s stuff from his days with The State.

My guess, though, is that Ariail won’t be holding a sign like that in real life any time soon. In fact, my guess is that folks are already knocking on his door begging him to work for them.
