CONGRESSMAN AT BIPEC PANEL: ECONOMY HAS BEEN STABLE, FIRST BAILOUT WAS GOOD THING

It appears the ninth most beautiful person in Congress gave a not-so-beautiful answer regarding his bailout bill flip-flop last October.

New video from a January BIPEC forum has surfaced on YouTube and was picked up by SC Hotline showing a flustered Barrett trying to justify his vote to send billions of taxpayer dollars to failed financial institutions.

“I voted for the first rescue plan because there was an economic tsunami about to hit this globe,” Barrett says in the clip. “[And now] the economy has been stable, the credit market has been stable, the first round was a good thing.

“I would do it again today if I had to do it all over again.”

Now, I don’t know if they get newspapers up there in Washington, D.C., but the economy is anything but stable. So Barrett’s handlers should probably go ahead and ditch the whole “the economy has stabilized” talking points.

The line between news and entertainment has officially been blurred beyond all recognition. Its a soft tyranny. How badly accuracy will suffer remains to be seen.
