TALK SHOW HOST FIRES BACK AGAINST GOVERNOR’S IMPLICATION THAT HE’S ‘AN IDIOT’

Surely, someone with as much “media savvy” as Gov. Mark Sanford knows better than to pick on the loudest voice in his party, talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

Yet Sanford walked right into a potential political mine field by saying yesterday that “anybody who wants [President Obama] to fail is an idiot” — a clear dig at Limbaugh, who recently said he was hoping Obama failed.

And, as expected, Limbaugh today responded to Sanford’s indirect attack.

“Politicians have different audiences than I do and they’ve got to say things in different ways,” Limbaugh said on his radio show, the most listened to in America. “After he said ‘anybody who wants Obama to fail is an idiot,’ he then went on in his own way to say ‘gosh, I hope this doesn’t work.’”

It will be interesting to see if Sanford attempts to return fire or backs down. One thing is certain, though: Limbaugh will not let up until he’s made it clear that Sanford is the “idiot.” So the governor would be wise to shut his mouth on this one.

I’ve only been visiting this site for a few months. What is your problem with Sanford? I have always thought he was one of the few small govt, fiscally conservative politicians we had in this state. I can read your disgust for him in your articles. Whats behind it?

This is interesting. I have the feeling that it won’t hurt Sanford a bit to criticize Limbaugh, but will actually raise his stock. Plus I don’t think Rush will do more than launch a pro-forma retaliation. He doesn’t have a problem with Sanford.

Now the actual reason, Coker, is that Adam is fueled by a state political consulting firm named “Richard Quinn & Associates” whom represent one of the factions in state Republican politics here. Take note that there are a certain list of Republicans who, according to the Scoop, are absolutely incapable of being wrong about anything, and also happen to have close ties to RQ&A. Some of these names include Lindsey Graham, Henry McMaster, and John McCain.

Other prominant Republicans are incapable of doing right according to this site, and these people generally have some sort of primary challenge or other butting heads with the fore-mentioned faction. Names on that list include any Republican presidential primary candidate who was not John McCain, Jim DeMint, and Gresham Barrett (competing with mcmaster for next governor).

With those two paragraphs you can understand the hidden meaning behind 75% of posts here.

I never realized how much I am missing just listening to these rants on the radio!

What, with all that finger tapping and arm swinging and shirt pulling.

El Rushbo said he DID NOT have a problem with Mark Sanford, who DID NOT call him an idiot by name.

They are cut out of the same swatch of cloth, really.

I would increase that to maybe 85-90%. By and large, there is no objective, truthful or factual political thought here. Just a bunch of subsidized hit posts and attacks that – when revealed as they usually are – don’t hold up to factual scrutiny.

Nothing but a food fight between two ex skull and crossbones Frat brothers who have no idea what Orwellian University they belong to?

Bill A. is dead on. The animosity actually goes all the way back to 2000 when Quinn the Elder approached Sanford to run for governor with RQ&A as the consultant. Sanford, of course, signed on with someone else, and the rest is, well, on this hack’s blog.

I enjoy reading responses by people who obviously disagree with everything posted on this site (or most of it). If you feel so strongly against the moderate republicans such as Graham, McCain, McMaster et al, why do you bother following this site? Just to be confrontational? Or, do you just accept that in the future, these guys are the only ones that will be electable on a national scale? It just seems counterproductive to constantly read the views of a site when you KNOW they won’t match yours. You won’t change its path, after all. Just curious…
