SILVER NATION DEFENDS VETTING PROCESS
The Palmetto Scoop recently passed along reports from local business sources that the South Carolina Senior Shield program promoted by Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer was not, as they claimed, adequately investigating “preferred businesses” and that the fees paid to be listed as a “senior checked” organization constituted the main element in the vetting process.
TPS has now heard from Silver Nation, the Maryland-based company that apparently manages the Senior Shield program.
President & CEO Mark Hansan says his company has well-documented files and profiles of all businesses certified as “senior checked.” Hansan added, “it is common to have both telephone and email communications” with the businesses while the review process is underway.
TPS often shares information received from sources that appear to be reputable. However, Mr. Hansan insists the information we passed along about the state-funded Senior Shield program is not accurate.
He says their vetting process is careful and complete. Therefore, we are providing this information in an effort to be fair to all involved. Those interested in more details can check the Senior Shield website.

So, the company is paid to investigate. They make a phone call and email. Wow…really? A phone call and email. Wow…not so thorough. Naw…sounds kinda slack to me.
It looks to me like there are very, very few businesses that are on Senior Shield. I can’t imagine it is much use…unless you want a home care person to drive 100 miles to give you a bath. Holly crap, our tax dollars at work once again.
“…in an effort to be fair to all involved”?
What about the businesses that complained about Senior Shield? Why did you remove that post if you want to be fair to all? In case you forgot, here it is… http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a136/GamecockSeven/blog/TPSvBauer.jpg
Did you back down from another lawsuit threat?
Other than your sniveling, my favorite part of this is the juxtaposition of the two photos you used. Good stuff.
Snead – Just trying to be fair and balanced. This post is a substitution for the other post.
Untill Senior Shield opens its books to the public, it is just another fraud on the taxpayer. Money down a rat hole as far as I am concerned. Money spent outside the public view is always a scam.
These guys are as crooked as a country road. This is going to be hung around Andre’s neck if he runs for Gov.
Andre will run for Gov and come up smelling like a rose. He is distancing himself from Senior Shield. He did not defend the program Silver Nation did and the deleted article said he created the program now this article says he simply promoted it. If the program fails he will just say he was duped by the company and he will “defend” seniors from the program. If the program succeeds he will take credit for it. Either way he wins.
