Angels?

NC MOM SNAPS PICTURE OF DAUGHTER’S LIFE-SAVING ANGEL

Earlier this week, The State newspaper published a photo of an “angel” that reportedly saved a young girl’s life at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. And by angel I don’t mean a really nice person, I mean the type with wings and halos that hang out in Heaven.

And this particular angel apparently cured Chelsea Banton, a teenager who has been battling for her life since she was born five weeks prematurely and given 36 hours to live. The health problems only continued until last month when it appeared her life was coming to an end.

“I said, ‘She’s been through enough,’” Colleen remembers. “I said, ‘Can we just take her mask off? She’s been through enough.’

“I wanted to do what the Lord wanted me to do. And I really felt like I’ve had her for 14 years, and if it’s time for her to go to heaven, then I know she’ll be healed.”

The mask didn’t come off immediately, though. They waited until family members had a chance to come to see Chelsea – perhaps for the last time.

On the afternoon of Nov. 5, as family and friends prayed about the decision, a nurse practitioner called Colleen’s attention to a monitor showing the door to the pediatric intensive care unit.

“On the monitor, there was this bright light,” Colleen recalls. “And I looked at it and I said, ‘Oh my goodness! It looks like an angel!”

Colleen pointed her digital camera at the monitor to take a photo of the image, but the “first picture wouldn’t take.”

She tried again and succeeded. The image gave her a peace that stayed with her when hospital staff removed Chelsea’s oxygen mask.

And then, “when they took the mask off of her, her stats went as high as they’ve ever been.

“Her color was good, and the doctors and nurses were amazed,” Colleen said. “The nurse practitioner who saw the image in the monitor said, ‘I’ve worked here 15 years, and I’ve never seen anything like it.’”

Chelsea was removed from intensive care on Nov. 14 and went home three days later.

Her mother believes it was a miracle – attended by a very real angel bathed in light at the door to the pediatric intensive care unit. [The State]

I’m generally a skeptical, cynical person when it comes to paranormal stuff. But that picture is pretty convincing.

And the fact that it happened during the Holiday Season only adds to the miraculousness of this whole story.

  1. I’m still skeptical. Next thing you know, we’ll be seeing black angels and/or Barack Obama in the clouds, our cornflakes, etc. Glad the child is well, though!

  2. (That’s a white angel, see?) Seems like all the GOP talks about is race. So, I thought I’d bring it up with the angels. BTW I thought the Barack/Puff the Magic Negro/Dragon thing was funny. LAST YEAR I THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY. Where has this guy been to just now be tossing it around? Rev. Al and President Obama probably got a kick out of it too. Why is it only white people that get hung up about it?

Magic Negro Dragons…now — let’s try and get some shots of that!

  3. Look at the “angel’s” reflection on the floor. It’s obviously light coming through windows that was reflected in the monitor screen and distorted. Nothing divine or paranormal here.

  4. Nice story. Bad theology in the telling of it. Angels don’t do any curing. They only do God’s will, and so if any props are to be handed out, it would only be appropriate to hand them to the Big Guy for the cure.

  5. Amen, Mr. Cranky. There is a certain danger in angel worship —
