
MAGNITUDE 3.6 TREMOR RECORDED NEAR GOOSE CREEK
It wasn’t exactly a major catastrophe, but folks in the Lowcountry who weren’t already awake got a nice little jolt at 7:42 a.m. by a minor earthquake.
A minor earthquake shook South Carolina this morning. It was felt strongly by many people in the Summerville area. No major damage or injuries have been reported.
The National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, CO is reporting that the earthquake was magnitude 3.6 on the richter scale and centered at 32.970 degrees north…. 79.997 degrees west. This is around 3 miles southeast of Goose Creek, SC. [WSAV]
For those of you still burying your head in the sand about the fact that South Carolina is overdue for a major earthquake — I’m looking at you, Emergency Management Division — then, by all means, don’t let this be a reminder to you.
For everyone else, now might be the time to put a little pressure on your elected officials to get their ass in gear. Tick, tock, tick, tock…
