66.6 PERCENT OF BLACK RNC MEMBERS BACK SCGOP CHAIR
There are two black candidates in the race to become the next chair of the Republican National Committee. There are three black members of the RNC. And two of them are supporting a white candidate — South Carolina GOP Chair Katon Dawson.
Last week, RNC Committeeman Glenn McCall announced his support for Dawson while debunking hyperbolic criticism that Dawson was a member of the “all-white” Forest Lake Country Club in Columbia. Today, the second African-American member of the RNC, Dr. Ada Fisher of North Carolina, said he was backing Dawson.
Under your stewardship South Carolina Republicans won 8 of 9 seats for state wide office, elected the first African American Republican to their state house since Reconstruction, now has a Republican Governor and US Senator, and your state’s Republican National Committeeman, an African American (only one of three blacks to have such a seat during this term) had your support.
At a time when Republicans are recovering from a thorough butt-whooping, it’s Dawson’s inclusive brand of leadership that we need running the party. And it says a lot that 66.6 percent of the black members of the RNC are supporting him when there are two African-Americans also running.
It also says a lot that only three of the 168 members of the RNC are black. Another reason we could use someone like Dawson who appeals to conservatives of all stripes.

Before I read the final paragraph of your post, this is what I had begun to type…
“I hope this is a joke. The fact that the GOP only has three black National Committee Members is a friggin embarassment. Now, I’m not one of those who cares about this sort of thing, but you apparently can’t see the forest for the trees. What this article should say, is “Why are there only three black RNC members?” It is shameful that in the year 2008, the GOP is celebrating the election of Glenn McCall and Tim Scott (who suck, by the way).
Some of us have moved past the racial tensions of yesteryear (we’re the ones who elected Barack Obama in a landslide). However, it is now apparent, that RQ&A can’t look past the color of one’s skin.
People like you, are the reason racism still exists. My grandmother always told me, that hateful, racist people are that way because of two overiding factors: A)Lack of education, and B)Because they don’t know any better. I would have to agree, and call you an ignorant jackass for posting something like this on your poor excuse of a blog.”
My apologies, and kudos to you and RQ&A for seeing the need for change within the GOP. Good luck to Katon Dawson as well.
Get rid of Katon. Elect him to any post you want, Just get rid of him.
Is it coincidence that those numbers are “66.6?”
