SANFORD CALLS HARRELL OUT… BY WHINING TO MEDIA
A lot of the time, when Gov. Mark Sanford opens his mouth, he really doesn’t think about what he’s saying, he just says something and hopes it was a good thing to say. Kind of like playing darts blindfolded — you’re hoping for a bulls eye but will settle for hitting someone in the neck.
A perfect example of this was yesterday when Sanford told the AP that House Speaker Bobby Harrell was a “coward.” Because, you know, picking up the phone and calling the media to say someone is a coward is so totally courageous.
Sanford says [Harrell] made a cowardly move in how he reassigned a roll call voting reformer from a key committee last week.
Sanford said Tuesday that Harrell tried to punish and humiliate state Rep. Nikki Haley after she pushed for more recorded House voting.
Harrell initially kept her on the House Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee. But after the committee met, Harrell sent his lawyer to her office with a letter moving her to the Education Committee.
Sanford said not doing that in person was cowardly.
Harrell said last week that he wasn’t punishing Haley and Haley’s notification was handled like all committee changes. Harrell spokesman Greg Foster said Tuesday those responses stand. [AP]
Somebody should call this “irony week.”
Monday it was Congressman Gresham Barrett saying he’s “not supposed to pick winners and losers” on the government bailout of the big three automakers only months after he did just that with the last bailout.
Yesterday it was The State getting giddy about WIS’s downfall when WIS will likely return the favor very soon.
And today we have Mr. Manly Governor boldly confronting the Speaker for keeping Sanford’s little Gaggle of Gluttons in check by, umm, once again crying to the media.
Funny that Sanford would be such a stickler about “not doing it in person.” A tad, dare I say, ironic?
Surely Sanford must realize by now that such immature whining has made him the epitome of a coward. Right?
I would say “thankfully, it’s almost over,” but he’s such a great source of material.

Waaah, people pay more attention to Mark Sanford than us. In a related story, Harrell spokesmeister Greg Foster said, ‘The Governor wouldn’t say that to my, er, the Speaker’s face.’
I’d bet all the Confederate dollars that Glenn McConnell has paid your comedy troupe that Sanford has the balls to say it to Harrell’s face and probably has.
Do you remember that time Sanford brought pigs up to the State House and Baby Quinn got his ass stomped by Nathan Ballentine? Man, they just don’t make elections like that anymore.
I do not think the Governor of South Carolina should be calling anyone a ” coward”. The Governor is cowardlike in many respects himself.
Once again (actually, this is so far past once that I can’t remember), if Sanford paid RQA then this headline would read: “Governor Says what all of us are Thinking: House Leadership Carries out Saddam-like purge.”
You’re really pitiful
These cowardly acts must stop across the entire nation. Not preparing proper reports, refusals to pick up hub caps, shopping under the illusion of buying hunting gear. It must stop.
