OBAMA WANTS TO CLOSE GUANTANAMO, SEND PRISONERS TO CHARLESTON

President-elect Barack Obama has not yet ascended to the White House, but already he’s apparently planning his revenge for states that voted against him in the Nov. 4 election. South Carolina has the honor of being first up as Obama has decided to keep his word and shut down the Guantanamo Bay military prison.

Where will he put all of the detainees? Why, Charleston, of course. And surprise, surprise, South Carolina lawmakers aren’t very excited about dropping hundreds of dangerous terrorists off in our backyard.

Rep. Henry Brown, a Hanahan Republican whose 1st Congressional District includes the Consolidated Naval Brig, introduced a bill Wednesday that would block the use of federal funds to move Guantanamo detainees to Charleston.

“Bringing these extremely dangerous war criminals, deemed too high of a threat to be sent home, would add an unnecessary terrorist threat to our community,” Brown said.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Seneca Republican who played a leading role in establishing military tribunals at Guantanamo, also opposes holding any or all of its 262 remaining detainees in the Charleston brig.

“It doesn’t make sense to hold them in an urban center like Charleston,” Graham said. “We should recognize that where they are detained will automatically become a terrorist target.” [McClatchy]

Obama’s plan is possibly one of the worst ideas to come out of his minus-two-month-old administration. And I’m not just saying that because I’m a NIMBY — which I am.

I would be pissed about moving these psychopaths anywhere in the U.S. I mean, there’s a reason we’re holding terrorists somewhere else… THEY’RE TERRORISTS.

At any moment, they can, will, and want to blow themselves up to kill Americans. And if they don’t blow us up, their friends will blow them up to shut them up.

I think it’s only appropriate that South Carolinians don’t want these people in our backyard. Neither does anyone else in America, except maybe parts of New England and California where the Gitmo detainees are worshiped as heroes.

Perhaps a better idea would be to drop the terrorists off on a sheet of ice in an area of the Arctic covered with Polar bears wearing nothing but a thin suit made of seal carcass. Let’s see them get their 72 virgins inside the stomach of a friggin’ Polar bear.

    Delusional hyperbole much?

Those people are no more dangerous than ordinary violent criminals, which nobody seems to have a problem with locking up on American soil. Unless they figure out the good ole’ American ingenuity that allows convicts to brew moonshine in their cell toilets, then absolutely nothing is going to blow up.

That place becoming a terrorist target? Not freaking plausible at all. These people come from a completely different culture and can’t move around in our soceity at all. You think some people are gonna pack up their robes and bombs and take a bus from Afgahnistan to Market Street, get off the bus not speaking a word of english, walk onto a military base, and blow up without anyone noticing anything suspicious? Garbage. The government is incompetant but it’s not that incompetant.

And if terrorists that could blend into our society weren’t the stuff of government propoganda fueled nightmares, then they would have managed to successfully attack something more frequently than once every 10 years. And they would attack economic targets instead of symbolic ones.

You’re almost worse than the friend of mine who claims terrorists are going to kill us all because Obama got elected.

Not to mention accused terrorists are already being held in Charleston. But don’t let facts get in the way of your writing style. Your ignorance is really quite spectacular some times.

“…parts of New England and California where they Gitmo detainees are worshiped as heroes.” Typos aside, where and/or what are you making reference to here? Again, don’t let facts stand in your way.

I’d ask about torture and trying to deny these people protection under the Geneva Convention, but then I remember you’re just an ignorant turd who fantasizes about being the biggest log in the bowl.

Being ignorant isn’t so bad, but trying to spread it around is really gross. South Carolina deserves better than you.

Wow, our lawmakers are turning down employment opportunities for the good people of Charleston.
We wouldn’t have all these prisoners if not for BUSH< so Obama wants them brought into the “REAL” criminal justice system instead of trying them in Kangaroo courts.
People how can you have a problem with that?????

Nice try there Snead. Problem is, there are only THREE terrorists currently being held in Charleston. Your beloved chosen one would put up to 300 there. That’s like saying, “that pitcher can hold six pints of beer, so let’s go ahead and pour an entire keg into it.”

But don’t let facts get in the way of your writing style.

The reasons you use to claim 300 prisoners is bad work just as well for 3.

So why aren’t you railing to have those three people moved somewhere else? How many terrorists in Charleston is a permissible number? 5? 150? 261?

If your issues with terrorists is a problem of kind, then sneads point holds up.
If it is a problem of quantity, then you’re being disingenuous by tolerating three.
If it is a problem of finding arbitrary ways to complain about obama, then nobody is surprised.

Ok then. How about some holiday cheer?

    “You better watch out
    you better not cry
you better watch out or you might just die
Terrorist plot is coming to town”
