STILL… NO… ANNOUNCEMENT

When Attorney General Henry McMaster finally announces that he’s running for governor, it may be the least surprising thing since I named myself “Best Blogger in the World.”

But, as if there weren’t a 99.9 percent chance he’ll be a candidate to replace Gov. Mark Sanford in 2010, FOX Carolina decided to ask McMaster about his intentions. And this time, he came really, really close to saying he’s in.

“We have a crying need for more energy and development in two areas,” McMaster said. “That is economic development and education.” [...]

“As far as the governor’s race is going, that is something I’m considering very seriously,” McMaster said. “If there is some way I can do more than I am doing now and the opportunity comes along, I’d like to take it.”

McMaster said as governor he would work on developing a better education system and progressing the state’s economy – two things he said go hand in hand.

“You can’t have a thriving economy with good work and good paying jobs for the people unless you have educated people capable of using it,” McMaster said.

This is kind of like on the show West Wing when there was an obvious “thing” between Josh Lyman and Donna Moss for four seasons, but producer Aaron Sorkin never let it turn into anything. Every episode was a tease and when you finally thought it was going to happen… no dice. Gosh, I miss that show.

I wouldn’t leave Trey Gowdy out of that later race to replace Mac…Unless he leans towards Lt. Gov. instead.

Yeah, I miss Josh and Donna as well — remember when she voted wrong, and had to find someone to trade with her?

I had to comment on the hair, though. I’m a new resident, and I have to say that this guy has the best politician hair that I’ve seen yet in the entire state. Isn’t there some higher office than governor that he could run for? It’s a shame to waste a coif like that on a mere governor.

Look at those rolling waves, the ruffled-yet-tamed locks that show he’s not a slave to blow drying, but can get the follicles under control and demonstrating “good behavior”.

Lock ‘em up, AG. Let Jon Ozmint sort ‘em out.
